When I tell people I've never been to Disney World, I usually get surprised reactions like the following: "how have you never been to Disney World?" "What?! No way, you're kidding!" Nope, no joke. Living in South Jersey, it seems as if everyone goes to Disney for vacation. In fact, when we have to do icebreakers and tell everyone something interesting about ourselves, I tell people that I've never been to Disney World.
Many of the people I know have gone to Disney when they were very young, and some go every year. I'm sure it's such a magical place and don't get me wrong, I love Disney and grew up watching mostly Disney movies. My family never took the time to book a trip to Disney, but I'm okay with that.
I'm extremely lucky and grateful to have experienced so many other things in my life, some that many other people have never experienced. I've been to Europe twice and will be going again this coming summer. Even though a lot of people have been to Disney, they probably have never been to Europe, let alone been to Europe twice.
I've been lucky enough to see five Broadway musicals in my lifetime. Again, I know people have seen more than I have but it's okay. Some people have never experienced a Broadway musical ever and I am extremely lucky that I've been able to see five amazing musicals. I've also been to several concerts and have been on equally fun vacations as a child.
So, while I have not (yet?) been to Disney World, I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything because my life has already been filled with so much love and incredible experiences. Maybe one day, I'll see if I like Disney more than Paris.
