As a child, I was always scared or cautious of things that we’re really in my control. Nature was fairly unpredictable in my eyes and if it wasn’t for family hikes or road trips, I probably wouldn’t be as open minded as I am today. There’s a sense of freedom in exploring the many wonders of nature. The paths we choose to walk on benefit our health, but more importantly, our happiness.
I hope to never lose my newfound sense of adventure. It's given me chances to explore and see the world for what it truly is. Each step into an area considered separate from the world is another connection with our roots. I love how natural it feels to walk through a forest, or by the ocean, and feel its energy and presence.
Some say it's implanted in our DNA with the history of movement the human race has embodied. I too think it's in our instincts to wander and be curious about the effervescence of all life. Think about all historical eras, if it wasn't for their explorations, who knows where we would be today.
As urban centers increase and parks diminish, we should not keep this from igniting our adventurous spirits. Exploring should be something to do on a regular basis, even if it's not an extraordinary location, anywhere is an adventure. As long as there's a willingness to expand and try new things, our imaginations are quite endless.
By viewing the world with a different lens, we can gain new perspectives by determining our appreciation for wonder. The beauty behind this is that adventure doesn't stop at the surface level - you can explore your mind, soul, and feelings as well. Delving inwards enables us to find harmony within the excursion of finding a sacred area for thought.
I can be that small child I was 10 years ago now, except I've been opened up to new possibilities and ideas. Back then, our worries were scarce and imagination at its peak. These adventures take us back to our glory days, where trees were warriors and rivers were molten hot lava. By utilizing this inner child we all carry, we give ourselves another intriguing place for our minds to wander. When I enter a mountainous area, I don't think about homework or my graduation timeline, I focus only on the present and the joy of being free to take the steps I choose to.
The path of discovery gives me clarity and a motivation to do more. To be more. To see more. These moments of inspiration that arise help shape who I am and prove that there is always something bigger, you just have to go search. Adventure to me is about developing, seeking, and finding my own way on this planet we call home.
