The Unbroken, Ongoing Promise To Myself To Write A Book

I never break promises, even the ones I make to myself.

When I was younger I made a promise to myself. I promised that I was going to write a book, no matter how long it took, or if I tried to get it published or not. I was eleven when I made that promise to myself, and to my childhood friend at the time, Chloe. I'm currently nineteen and I am still trying to this day to fulfill said request.

A problem of mine is that I always over plan or write a really good first chapter but then anything after it seems stupid, and I constantly stress over my grammar. I was never the best at grammar, or spelling, in Language arts but I have a knack for describing things in great detail.

Like I said I made this promise to myself and I intend on keeping it, and there is even a book Idea floating around in my head that I might try and work on. Who knows?

Maybe I'll become the next J.K Rowling, however, I doubt that I'll ever reach that level. My main goal is to maybe write up a few stories and then go from there and chose which one I rather actually right. Maybe I won't even publish it anywhere either.

I suppose you could call it my passion project and at least it is not really costly. The only reason I would spend money could be because of a grammar checking website like Grammarly, or some other website thing like that.

Regardless I think it is about time for me to live up to my promise and prove to myself that I can do this, as well as prove to everyone else that I am a decent writer.

I may not be an English major or an avid grammar fanatic, but I do have a passion for writing and I think that my passion alone could make up for it all in the end. Besides all of the above, I do have to work on one thing; writer's block. I suffer from it a good bit and it normally throws wrenches into all of my plans.

I have been told by a few people that the best way to get out of writer's block is to write but my mind gets so stumped I just do not know what to do at all. A big thing for me is that since I have started writing for Odyssey I have gotten much better at handling my writer's block now.

In a way, my writing for Odyssey has also helped me get used to writing, and meeting deadlines and has really helped me learn better organization skills. It has also led me to meet some really cool people on campus and get to meet people before I moved onto campus.

Overall I think within the next few years I will somehow manage to get this story down and onto paper but we will see where it gets me when it happens.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
