This month is an awesome month since Halloween is the last day. With this in mind you might notice the difference in the atmosphere around you. Spooky cobwebs, pumpkins and Halloween decorations decorate the storefronts and homes of residents, candy is being sold in bulk when you walk into your nearest grocery store, or you see events on Facebook or other social networks for Halloween themed parties. However, one of the most fun filled parts of Halloween is logging into Netflix to watch a movie.
Netflix is bringing on board a whole list of scary movies for the Halloween season. While there are a bunch of movies that Netflix has available, there are a handful of movies that stand out from the bunch. Below is a list of my favorite contenders for the Halloween season. If your Halloween consists of nothing else but grabbing a 6 pack of beer and marathoning a bunch of scary movies, be sure to add these films to your list:
1. They Look Like People
This movie is a really low budget film, but it has garnered a 4.5 star rating on Netflix. A guy reconnects with his friend in New York City following a mysterious breakup with his fiancée
. As you continue watching, you realize that there is a pending apocalypse coming. More psychological than scary, this movie is definitely a must- watch for any indie movie fanatics.2. Pontypool
Taking place in a small town of Pontypool, Canada a disc jockey who broadcasts from his basement gets startling reports of a virus outbreak that turns people into zombies. After barricading himself, he must find a way to warn other listeners about the outbreak— in a different language, English! It's a pretty good 4 star movie.
3. Monsters
This puts a spin on classic alien apocalypse movies. Set five years after an alien invasion, a U.S. reporter who is stranded in Mexico must find a way to cross the U.S.-Mexican border to go back. Pretty solid rating on Netflix with a 3.5/5.
4. Sacrament
This is a fictional account of a Vice reporter's journey to the heart of Jonestown amidst the Jonestown massacre in 1978. This film follows the tyrannical Jim Jones in a found-footage style movie format.
5. V/H/S
Set as a horror anthology within a movie. A couple of bandits go into a house to steal a tape only to find a bunch of short horror tapes. Strap yourself in for a horror extravaganza.
Be sure to give each of these horror films a watch and plan your Halloween accordingly. Feel free to check out the Halloween Favorites section on Netflix for other films. Have a safe and spooky Halloween.
