Netflix, the silent killer. Okay, I'm exaggerating. But really, I've come to the hard truth that it can kill productivity, hinder your social life, and hurt your physical and mental health.
How-to Netflix:
1. When you're having a rough day
2. When your Saturday night plans have failed.
3. When you watch things relevant to your personal life and future. (Hello, Grey's is great for you medical people)
4. When you have one free hour out of a hectic day
5. When you've completed your daily tasks and it's time to wind down
Now, I'm not saying that watching a couple episodes a night is a bad thing. However, binge watching so that you're wasting away your Saturday or avoiding being productive during the week is not the best idea. Sure, I can understand if you need a day. We all have those days. But statistics have become concerning. According to the Statistic Brain Research Institute's studies conducted in 2015, the amount of time spent by Netflix members watching streamed videos on hi-speed internet totaled to be approximately 2 billion hours. It sure does seem like Netflix has become a priority over the last few years. I'm a firm believer that a person's priorities dictate how they spend their time.
It can kill productivity. How? It's simple. Let's say you have a lengthy research paper to be completed two days from now.
