With jobs, internships, and the impending school year already coming up, everyone needs a break to sit down and enjoy some entertainment. Unfortunately, summer can be a boring three months with all of our beloved television shows going on hiatus until next fall.
Netflix has us covered, though; with the addition of new shows such as MTV's "Scream," award-winning shows you may still have not watched, such as "Breaking Bad," and of course new episodes and shows created by Netflix itself, this summer should go by fast.
1. Orange is the New Black
According to the Netflix Media Center, the original show, a favorite among many, will premiere its fourth season on June 17. If you haven't watched the award-winning show yet, this is your best time to catch up with Piper Chapman and the rest of the women of Litchfield Penitentiary as they try to survive prison and remember their lives before jail.
2. The Ranch
"The Ranch" actually premiered earlier in April, but if you haven't caught up with the show and "That 70's Show" alumni Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson, you don't know what you're missing. This summer is the perfect time to sit down and reminisce.
3. The Get Down
This show is not only a new addition to Netflix Originals, it's also a new genre that Netflix hasn't explored yet. According to Hollywood, this is Netflix's first musical drama and will be set to premiere Aug. 12 of this year. So if you're a musical or theatrical junkie, this will definitely be your cup of tea.
4. Grace and Frankie
Season 2 was released earlier this month, and season one has been out since last year. The show focuses on two older women (Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin) who move in together after their husbands leave them for each other. While at first glance the show may seem to be aimed at an older audience, that's far from being right, as even Miley Cyrus sang its praise.
5. Stranger Things
Everyone needs a little more Winona Ryder in their lives, and in the new show set to premiere July 15, we won't be let down. The show is perfect for anyone looking for a little mystery, as the series follows the story of a missing boy, and a little bit of creepiness is also entwined with the addition of supernatural forces and secret experimentation, but what else could we expect from Ryder?
6. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
If you haven't already binge-watched this addicting comedy, you don't know what you're missing. The first season premiered last spring, and the second followed this past April. If you enjoyed the first, this season is no let down, with the addition of new characters such as Andrea (played by Tina Fey), and actors such as Lisa Kudrow.
