In the watered-down world of Netflix, it can be tough for a sports fan out here, so I have compiled a short list, and reviews, of a few great shows, movies, and documentaries that I have watched in the past month that all sports fans can appreciate.

Last Chance U

This short series is about a junior college football team in Scooba, Mississippi that specializes in recruiting the big-time Division 1 recruits and former players that took a wrong turn at some point in their lives. Whether it is behavioral, educational, or otherwise, these guys have been dealt a tough hand in a world where they would otherwise be celebrated for their athletic abilities. Coach Buddy Stephens and the boys get things done in their own special way in this hard-nosed, gritty documentary series.

Four Days in October

While any of ESPN's 30-for-30 films could make this list, I am partial to this take on the 2004 ALCS. If you are unfamiliar, the Red Sox and Yankees battled it out in one of baseball's all-time series at the beginning of October. With a trip to the World Series on the line, the Yankees take a 3-0 lead in a 7-game series, only to have it fall through their fingers as the Red Sox win 4 straight to take the win. This insider take on the games gives a unique perspective to not only the Red Sox, but the MLB and professional sports in general. A must-watch.

Schooled

This documentary is good for anybody interested in sports, business, or life for that matter. It tells the tale of the NCAA and how it has grown to a monopolistic level. The class-action lawsuits of late surround the issues brought up in this story, as the filmmakers investigate what it means to be a college athlete, the expectations associated with performance and the big-business of college sports.

Broke

This documentary reveals the personal finance issues associated with the NFL. It does well to explain the dilemmas faced with making such a large amount of money in only a few years, and how expectations and society pressure the players into living the quintessential pro ball player lifestyle. Illustrated through great case studies and telling statistics, you have a new appreciation for those players that live within their means.

I hope these are helpful in your next Netflix search!

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
