Netflix Shows You Should Binge Watch During Fall Break

The long awaited fall break is coming up and I think we all know what that means - binge watching Netflix.

In my experience, everyone loves Netflix. I think that it has taken television out of the equation which is kind of weird, but I still love it. With fall break coming up, what else can we do other than laying in bed binge watching Netflix?

In my opinion, it is a daunting task to binge watch shows like Friends with having 10 seasons. Unless you are a hardcore fan and you're extremely invested, you won't finish it. So, here are a few that are completely do-able during your mini hibernation that is fall break.

1. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

The slightly neurotic main character of this show is so relatable. Her life is uprooted when New York City proves to be too much for her to handle and she goes to California. There are only 2 seasons on Netflix, so you can totally finish it.

2. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

This is legitimately the best show on Netflix in my opinion. Ellie Kemper stars as Kimmy and Tina Fey is the creator of the show. Kimmy has been kept underground by a cult leader and has finally made her way into the real world again and this is her story. This is comedic genius! I finished both seasons in 3 days and I am not ashamed to say it was addicting and kept me laughing the entire time

3. Master of None

This is also comedic genius by Aziz Ansari. If you are a fan of his stand-up, like I am, then you'll enjoy this. There is only one season on Netflix so far, so you can definitely finish them all on your break. It deals with many social issues like race and authenticity to who you are in a fun light hearted way, but it kind of makes you reevaluate the way that you think which is cool.

4. Arrested Development

This ran from 2003-2006 and then was picked up by Netflix in 2013 for a fifth season. It is just a show about this family and all of them have some sort of quirky, strange quality about them except the one member Michael who is the glue. It kind of reminds you that almost every family is weird and hopefully it'll make you feel better about your own strange family. There are 5 seasons but you can totally make it through if you push yourself.

5. Friends

You won't finish this, but I think we can all use a little bit of Monica, Rachel, Ross, Phoebe, Chandler and Joey on our break from reality. If you're spending your break studying for midterms, they'll be there for you.

Hopefully, these hilarious sitcoms will keep you in good spirits whether you are painfully studying or relaxing in your bed.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
