If you're a college student, you've likely got lots of time to be home for break. While it can be really nice being home for a few days at first, after a while you can feel confused. Once you get used to having the freedom to do what you want when you want it, being back under your childhood roof can be difficult. However, it's also nice to just relax and enjoy your time to do nothing but eat, spend time with family, and binge watch all those tv shows you've been saving up throughout the semester. For those of you looking for a new show to fill all the time with, here's a few to become newly obsessed with.
1. Stranger Things
If you haven't seen this show yet, now is the time to start. It's an 80s sci-fi drama about a group of kids whose friend goes missing and have to work to solve the mystery of his disappearance. Filled with gritty angst, lots of 80s home decor, and a soundtrack full of New Order, you can't go wrong with this show.
2. Shameless
I only just started Shameless, but I've already worked my way through two seasons and am obsessed. Following the story of alcoholic Frank and his children living in Southside Chicago, Shameless is a portrait of neurotic, ingenious, and impoverished America- a subset of people who blend in well with the real world but are doing all they can to make ends meet. Each character on the show has great development, and each provides a different lesson for the watcher. It's well paced and humorous, with just enough conflict to push it along.
3. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life
I wasn't as much of a fan of the four new Gilmore Girls episodes as I had hoped I would be, but at an hour-and-a-half each, they make a great binge-watch. If you've already seen the previous seven seasons of the show (if you haven't, that's a great thing to start watching), you'll understand how nice it is to come back to such a familiar plot. The new episodes feature old characters and new, and provide twists and turns fitting for the Stars Hollow crowd. Let's just hope they keep going with the revival and add new episodes explaining those last four words.
4. The Crown
The Crown tells the story of young Queen Elizabeth as she navigates the difficulties of an ascent to the throne. With gorgeous scenery, fantastic acting, and a historical storyline, the show is perfect to watch when you need something new and different. It finally gives a voice to a queen everyone knows but never truly understood, and provides insight into the workings of monarchy and corruption of government, leaving the watcher captivated and enchanted by the world of 20th century England.
