Series On Netflix That Will Change Your Perspective On The World And Humanity.

During these times of difficulty and chaos we are living in, sometimes we seek comfort in music , hobbies, art or even watching our favorite series/movies on Netflix. Today I'm bringing to you 6 series that are available on Netflix that changed my whole view on the world and life. These series made me cry , laugh and even Ben terrified of this world. Within these series you will find real life problems that are still ongoing today and will make you have a clearer thought on things you're probably not well informed of.

1. One Day At A Time

ONE DAY AT A TIME Official Trailer (HD) Netflix Comedy Seriesyoutu.be

This Netflix-original comedy-drama is inspired by Norman Lear's 1975 series of the same name. This time around, the series follows the life of Penelope, a newly single Army veteran, and her Cuban-American family, as they navigate the ups and downs of life. Now a nurse, Penelope is raising two strong-willed children. When faced with challenges, Penelope turns to her "old-school" mother, and her building manager, who has become an invaluable confidant. The series offers a contemporary take on what life looks like in both good and bad times, and how loved ones can help make it all worthwhile.

This series changed my life and my perspective on so many things. The way they transmitted issues that are very relevant in todays society, it is very direct and effective. Everyone can relate to this situation if you're family migrated another country , if you're part of the LGBTQ+ Community or if you have family members in the army.

2. Sense8

Sense8 | Official Trailer [HD] | Netflixyoutu.be

Eight strangers around the globe find themselves connected -- first by a violent vision, then by their shared ability to connect with one another's thoughts and actions, and finally by the urgent need to find out what happened and why. Their need to know goes beyond simple curiosity -- as they pursue answers, a mysterious organization hunts them down, intent on destroying them. The intense thriller is the first foray into television (or, more accurately, Netflix) for renowned filmmakers Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski ("The Matrix Reloaded"), who created the series with J. Michael Straczynski ("Thor"). The international cast includes veteran actors known to U.S. audiences, like Daryl Hannah ("Kill Bill") and Naveen Andrews ("Lost"), and others well-known in their home countries, like German actor Max Riemelt and Doona Bae of South Korea. In keeping with the global premise of the series, shooting takes place all over the world, including London, Reykjavik, Nairobi and Mumbai.

This series gave me a really strong sense of what type of things are going on around the world and we are oblivious to what humans are capable of. In this series 8 people are connected through an 8th sense of their brain and help each other with the problems they deal with on a daily basis. This series has themes like LGBTQ+, Racial , political , and other social issues that are prevelant in our world today.

3. GLEE

Glee Trailer - Glee Season 1 DVD Traileryoutu.be

Optimistic teacher Will Schuester heads up McKinley High School's glee club -- New Directions -- a place where ambitious and talented students can find strength, acceptance and their voice. As the students find themselves, they also enjoy a respite from the harsh realities of life. Mr. Schuester hopes to help the kids in every way he can, and also dreams of taking the group to nationals. As Schuester and the glee club pursue their goal, they face opposition from a conniving cheerleading coach, Sue Sylvester, who tries to sabotage the group at every turn.

Glee is one of those series that will make you happy and sad all at the same time. This series embark many similar themes like the other mention ones. This series is to appreciate everyone and accept everyone for who they are without any judgement. This series helped me deal with personal problems and also suicidal thoughts.

4. Degrassi : Next Class

Degrassi: Next Class | Trailer [HD] | Netflixyoutu.be

Following the lives of a new generation of students at Degrassi Community School as they encounter high-school issues such as racism, drug use, homophobia, mental illness, cyber bulling, sexuality, religion, and more.

Degrassi has been going on for a couple years now, but the most recent series is my favorite. I really enjoyed it because they touch really sensitive topics that need to be talked in our society today.

5. Black Mirror

Black Mirror | Trailer [HD] | Netflixyoutu.be

Featuring stand-alone dramas -- sharp, suspenseful, satirical tales that explore techno-paranoia -- "Black Mirror" is a contemporary reworking of "The Twilight Zone" with stories that tap into the collective unease about the modern world. Each story features its own cast of unique characters, including stars like Bryce Dallas Howard ("The Help"), Alice Eve, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Tom Cullen and Jerome Flynn ("Game of Thrones"). Joe Wright, Dan Trachtenberg, and James Watkins are among the featured directors.

Black mirror is a very futuristic approach of what are life's are like in today's society. The series change my perspective on how I viewed society as whole because there's much more than what we decide to show on social media, in public , with our family or with our friends. We are never our true selves.

6. The Fosters

The Fosters Traileryoutu.be

Stef, a dedicated police officer, is in a relationship with Lena. The two have built a close-knit family with Stef's biological son, Brandon, and adopted twins, Mariana and Jesus. When Lena meets Callie -- hardened from being in and out of foster homes -- the couple welcome her into their home, thinking it is temporary. Callie's blunt commentary about the atypical family hits a nerve with the twins, who struggle with their own identities. Then the girl discovers a secret that could land Mariana in trouble. Brandon helps Callie navigate the social scene at high school, but she skips school to meet up with an old friend. Her behavior makes Stef and Lena second-guess their decision to help her.

This series show for the most part the reality of how lgbtq couples raise a household when they decide to foster and adopt children and like how in many “Traditional" families they deal with the same issues.

I invite you to take a look into these series and see what change they can make in you. Never underestimate something by its cover because you might never know what you might feel by watching these series.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
