It seems that 2015 was the year of binge-watching. All everyone talked about was the latest Netflix original they were watching or if you had finally finished all ten seasons of a given show. Since, binge-watching has become such a craze the recent debate has become Netflix or Hulu? TV Shows or Movies? Green or Red? Netflix and Chill or Hulu and Hang? With so many options and differences between the two streaming websites, why not both? Here are five reasons why having both Hulu and Netflix will satisfy all your binge-watching needs.
1.) Movies and TV Shows
Hulu’s main focus is on TV shows, specifically shows that are currently playing, making it an ideal location to catch up on the couple episodes you missed and forgot to record. You can normally count on Hulu to have a new episode by 5am the morning after it airs. This is a convenience that Netflix does not give you. However, if you are looking for movies, then Netflix is your go to site. Hulu extremely lacks in the Movie category, specifically current movies. However, Netflix is updating its site with the latest movies monthly. With so many options you will ask yourself what is sleep?
2.) Easier to Find What You Are Looking For
Another perk of being members of both Netflix and Hulu is that more than likely you will always find something to watch. If you are searching for a Real Housewife show on Netflix you will not find it so just switch over to Hulu. If you want to watch Friends and the Hulu search comes back empty then log back into Netflix and there you go. You have endless options by having both and will never run out of things to watch. Even better if one of the sites are down you can easily go watch the other,
3.)Twice As Many Original Series and Continuations
A perk of being members to these streaming websites are the shows that only members have access to, wether it be through an original series created by Hulu or Netlfix or a continuation picked up by the sites to continue a current series by having both you can watch them all. That way, when your friends are discussing Orange is the New Black or Difficult People you have watched both. Are you looking forward to Fuller House and Season 4 of the Mindy Project? In order to watch both you need Netflix and Hulu.
4.) Together both are cheeper than Satellite and Cable
A Hulu Plus subscription is currently at $7.99 and a basic Netlfix subscription is $8 add both up and you get an approximate $16 a month for your streaming needs. With cable or satellite it often cost at least $25 for the basic package that does not include movies or on demand services. If trying to figure out a way to save money while staying up to date on the latest shows than switching to Netflix and Hulu is the way to do it.
5.)Both are easily compatible to your TVs and game consoles
I have often heard the misconception that either Hulu or Netflix is not compatible on all TVs or game consoles. However, Hulu and Netflix are both compatible on PCs, Phones, Tablets, Roku, Apple TV, PlayStations 3, and newer, Xbox 360 and newer, Wii, Wii U, and smart TVs. These options make your streaming options endless and binge-watching easier.
As 2016 begins and the binge-watching crazes seems to not be slowing down I think it is essential to evaluate how you can fit both Netflix and Hulu into your day. Plus, in a world full of endless decisions and choices, this is one you will not have to make because you can have both.
