Netflix Shows to Binge Watch This Year!

Netflix Favorites

This school year is beginning at a rapid pace! Sadly, this means that “summer sixteen” is coming to an end. As many college students know, as another semester starts, so does another season of your Netflix favorites.

Confused as to which show to become addicted to during my sophomore year, I decided to ask many friends what they thought the best series I should “commit” to and why.

After receiving numerous answers, I decided to compile the results into this week’s article. After asking friends and family for their suggestions and reviews, I have put together a list of some “Netflix Favorites” for inspiration on what shows to procrastinate and binge watch this semester! Here are their favorites!

"Supernatural"

There are 10 seasons of "Supernatural." This is a suspenseful show that has astonishing chains of events that occur during every episode. Two brothers named Dean and Sam are on the hunt for demons and anything else deemed “supernatural”. They are seeking revenge for the demon that killed their mother. Both brothers go through things to complete their mission in order to stop evil. Through all the bad things that occur within each episode, this family still keeps their strong relationship alive.

"Grey’s Anatomy"

There are 12 seasons in this drama-filled show named "Grey’s Anatomy." Every episode is exciting because of the hospital scenes and the dynamic casted characters. "Grey’s Anatomy," also known as “Grey’s”, is so well written that you feel like you know the characters personally and are living through their struggles during the show. This show is very popular for both boys and girls. “If you like dramatic, yet realistic shows, "Grey’s" is the show for you!”

" The Office"

"The Office" is about a Paper Company who has a crazy manager. Humorous things happen on a daily basis that everyone can relate to. It is a show full of very dry humor yet a show one can always count on for a laugh. The innuendos and hidden messages make this show a classic and one that is likable to all different types of working people. The more one watches this series and gets to know the characters; the more attached one will be addicted to the show.

"Blue Mountain State"

"Blue Mountain State" is an action-packed, crazy series that replicates the American college “dream”. This series is about the top college football team in the country. You would think that they work very hard, but they do quite the opposite. These jocks/players just like partying. It is an exciting show that keeps its viewers on the edge of their seat all waiting witness the going ons at the episodes wild party.

"Stranger Things"

"Stranger Things" is a horror show with many great plots and lines. The four main characters are all young kids who are in the search for their mysteriously-abducted friend. While the kids search for their friend who disappeared, the mother and brother of the missing child search tirelessly with hopes of solving the mystery with the help of the town’s police chief. They go through crazy out of this world experiences that are meant to send chills down your spine! This show is a Netflix original and just recently got approved for its second season.

"One Tree Hill"

One Tree Hill" is a very relatable show for tweens, high school and college age groups. One Tree Hill is a very long show with up to 24 episodes and 9 seasons. Due to the longevity of this series, everything has much more detail in capturing such an audience. Everyone loves to reflect back on their high school years while watching school spirit events, sports, love blossoming, along with episodes surrounding conflicts, drama, heartache and disappointment. "One Tree Hill" has such a following that its writers need to keep it interesting and with success they do.

With all of these choices, the question is if I get addicted to these shows will I complete my school work accurately and efficiently?? Although it would be nice to think that my procrastination while watching these shows will give me the relaxation and stamina I need to complete my requirements in school, it probably will not and I am sure many students can agree! Thanks to all who shared their thoughts and gave advice. I can’t wait to catch these Flicks!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
