Netflix's Docuseries 'The Staircase' Is Biased

Recently, Netflix has added a new show to their list called "The Staircase." I don't want to spoil anything, but basically it is about a a man on trial for first degree murder. The show goes through all of the trials and the case as a whole, but as I've done more research, I have found the show to be entirely biased on Michael Peterson (the man on trial) and his case.

Doing my research and looking more into the case, I found that the editor of the show was his girlfriend at one point, so that basically proves the bias to his side. He was also close with the director, and the entire show is based on Michael's point of view, his family and his thoughts. There were never any interviews with the other side of the case or the other people involved if they were on the opposing side.

While going through multiple other sources, I found that the show left out multiple, and crucial, pieces of evidence that could very easily effect the outcome of the trial. There was also a similar death, many years before that tied into this one, but didn't seem relevant enough to make a difference.

After watching this show and doing my research, I have found that the director and editor of the show are completely biased toward Michael and his family. While the show did show many important points and a lot of important evidence, I think that it is important to know that if you plan on watching it, you should know that it is very biased in that aspect.

Overall, the Netflix original show, "The Staircase" was very interesting and intriguing, and at some points it is easy to question whether or not it is biased. Most of the show, especially after the first few episodes, it is easy to tell, but if you don't mind biased opinions, I highly recommend the show. As just a viewer, I can say I pretty much enjoyed the show, but only if I wasn't thinking of it as real life, which it was.

I would give this show a 7/10 simply because of the biased opinion of the directing, but apart from that, the show was pretty decent.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
