It’s happening! Probably the biggest news break since Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston broke up or sliced bread was invented. Yes! I’m talking about Netflix allowing you to download shows and movies so you can watch Netflix anytime and anywhere.
If you are familiar with the music streaming site, Spotify, you may be used to downloading your playlists so when you don’t have Wi-Fi, you’re able to listen to your music without using your data or the Internet. Netflix has adopted this philosophy and now made it even harder to get things accomplished.
Netflix created the ‘download and go’ feature for commuters who are stuck on the subway and can’t connect to outside internet, or people on planes who don’t want to spend $29.99 for 30 minutes of Wi-Fi. You no longer need a suitable Internet connection to binge watch Stranger Things, but instead, just click the download button and you’re good to go. Anywhere you may go, as long as the movie or TV show is downloaded, you can watch. All you need to do is download the newest version of the Netflix app.
There are a few kinks that Netflix has to work out, though, one of the biggest issues being the selection of material that is available to be downloaded. Some shows that are affiliated with big networks like NBC or TBS may not be available to download, while other shows on the network are. It just all depends on how popular the show is! Another issue is that only a certain amount of shows can be downloaded at a time. After the download queue is full, you’ll have to delete some of the downloaded shows you have already watched or don’t want anymore.
All in all, Netflix is stepping their game up and changing the game for college students worldwide. People have the power to watch Netflix 24/7 now without making their cell phone bill seven digits. Binge watchers of the world, start procrastinating!
