The 5 Stages Of Netflix Binge Grief

Get way to into a show on Netflix and it's over? Trust me, I've had that happen to me many a time.

As you watch a show, a really good one at that, you can't help but to watch multiple episodes at a time. Well, I wanna know what happens next! you obviously interject. To tell you the truth, that's my response as well but what happens afterwards? There's gotta be an end here somewhere. It's not like they have a new episode out everyday (I wish). So, what happens? In an extreme hypothetical sense, it's like a friend dying and when more episodes come out, it's like they have been resuscitated. I know, I know, that analogy is a bit extreme but it's how I feel about the shows.

I feel like the shows keep me entertained, intrigued and determined. I want to know more of their story. Their backgrounds, why is everything exactly going on. And by cutting it off, thus begins the cycle of grief.

1. Denial

Now, wait a minute, that couldn'thave been it. There's no way that "The Vampire Diaries" ended like that. There just has to be more to it!

I know, we've all been through this. There is no possible way that show is over. There has to be more but, sadly, there just isn't. *insert sad face here*

2. Anger

I WANT IT BACK NOW AND I WILL WRITE THE PRODUCERS, THE WRITERS, THE ACTORS AND ANYONE ELSE INVOLVED!!

Rage. Pure rage. Much anger.

3. Bargaining

Can you bring it back please? Pretty please? I'll give you anything just to see Ian Somerhalder shirtless again... anything.

I'm sorry to let you know but giving up anything just for it to come back won't change a thing. I wish it worked like that but it sadly doesn't.

4. Depression

How will I go on with my life without this show? It was so meaningful to me and I grew up with it. Nothing can replace that show.

You think that life won't go on without the show it your life. That show became your lifesource and now you have to just give it up. It's hard to just do this but it has to be done. (This scene always gave me the creeps on Spongebob, anyone else feelin' me?)

5. Acceptance

Well, so much for trying. It was an amazing show while it lasted. I especially liked the part when they---

You thought I was going to spoil it for you, didn't you? For shame, friend! I'd never do that to you. If you want to know what happens, I'll let you find that out on your own. (If you want to get just as obsessed as I did, link is right here. You do need an account to watch it, just to let you know!)

Typically, for me, the reason I can move on so quickly is because I've found a new show that is equally as good.

Did you find this to be relatable? I sure as heck even related to myself on a few here and just kept nodding my head as I wrote it, tbh! Hopefully you enjoyed this one because this was definitely a fun one to write! Have a good week and I'll see ya in the next one, toodles!

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.
