If you are anything like me, looking at the political news on facebook and seeing facebook friends support any of the President’s actions is stressing and tiring you out. You just want a way to get away from the horrible things of the world and you want to do it quick. Well, I have just the thing for you! A nerd’s step-by-step guide to ignoring the horrible world of political news on facebook and getting back to having joy in your life.

1. Get off Facebook!!!

Yes I realize that’s one of the best ways to see what your friends are up to, but it’s also the main source of you massive stress, so just get off it.

2. Read fanfiction

Ah, yes. The time-honored tradition of reading the beauty of the internet that is a nerd’s Nirvana. Yes. Just realize as you read about your favorite gay ships getting married and having the time of their lives... before their basic human rights get taken away from them... crap.

3. Stop looking at the Facebook app on your phone

It’s tempting to go back on. Yes, we know. But stop looking at it.

4. Go on Pinterest

Yes, go and look at all the craft ideas! They will help destress you... until you start to run low on supplies and start remembering that horrible things that have happened in the past three weeks that are stressing you out... well that’s not working anymore.

5. Seriously stop looking at your app!

Let’s avoid the temptation altogether. Just throw your phone, laptop and tablet into a place where you will never see them again. For me, it’s the black hole that is my room.

6. Read a comic book

Yes, always a relaxing pass time. For me, I think I’ll just read my newest ‘Ms. Marvel’ comic here... and think about all the poor people who are innocent and only want the freedom to practice their religion and are being persecuted and some being forced out of the country they love... dang it.

7. Read a chapter book

I always like to read series of books that have happy endings, like “Harry Potter” or “the Mortal Instruments Series”... which just so happen to have villains who take or attempt to take over a government because they believe that blood should be pure and that people who are different or seem different are evil... these steps are really helping are they?

8. Watch a movie

Hey, look! My “Star Wars” DVDs! Let’s all just watch “Star Wars” and watch as... The Empire takes over... And a group of people die in order to get plans to a princess... Who ends up being in charge of a rebellion… Which overthrows the Empire… And restores peace to the Galaxy... and let’s hope the next trilogy has a similar outcome...

9. Become Princess Leia

No, you don’t actually go into space and become and princess and general. You do, however, keep fighting against the Empire. You have hope that you can change and make things better. You go to protests, you sign petitions, you create petitions, you vote, and you keep fighting until we make it through and bring peace to the galaxy!... Or at least the United States.

10. Get back on Facebook

Yes, you have my permission. If we’re going to be fighting, we at least need to know and have knowledge of what we’re fighting against. Find real articles from real sources! Don’t go to fake news or look at the ever so lovely “alternative facts.” Find something real and of substance so that we can fight as Hermione and Princess Leia.

To the people who support Trump or believe I should just accept that he is president now, please understand, I do accept that he is the president. That does not, however, mean that I suddenly stop fighting for my rights and for other people’s. I can do both. I believe that many of the actions of Trump are wrong and I believe that I and many others can try and stop them and help regain the rights that many have lost in the past few weeks and stop the Trump Administration from taking so many more.

So keep fighting and may the force be with you... always.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
