Nerd Talk Time! 'Game of Thrones' and Zelda Majora's Mask Fans

A crazy realization.

Nerd Talk Time! 'Game of Thrones' and Zelda Majora's Mask Fans

As I was playing Zelda Majora's Mask for around the fifth time, I was thinking about the storyline because I'm a nerd and I analyze how deep it is every time.

All of the sudden a had an enormous mindf**k and realized that Zelda Majora's Mask, and Ayra's encounter with the Faceless Man in Game of Thrones have a really similar storyline. Maybe some of you have already connected that but.....

If you haven't let me show you how:

1. Learning to fight

The protagonist of all the Zelda games has to train to be a warrior in order to save the Great Deku tree in Ocarina of Time, the prequel.

Arya has been training to be "nobody" while she actually is training to be the best warrior she could be. She just doesn't know that at this point.

2. Becoming Disabled

At the beginning of Majora's mask Link is robbed by a character who was a good guy at one point named Skull Kid. However, Skull Kid isn't his real self, he is wearing a mask called Majora's Mask making him the villan and trickster of the game. As one of his "funny" tricks, he robs Link of all his gear then transforms him into a hopeless Deku Scrub. Link has to then learn to become a warrior as a Deku in order to become himself again by acquiring his ocarina.

During Ayra's training, she did something she was not supposed to do and became blind. She then must learn how to fight like a blind girl in order to have her eyes back.

3. Acquiring their most important needs

Link masters being a Deku Scrub by fighting Skull Kid for his ocarina for the first time. While he does not defeat Skull Kid, he remembers "The Song of Time" that he learned from Zelda, and instantly goes back in time. He then is turned back into himself by the creepy mask seller.

Arya is constantly beat up by the Waif and gives it all she's got while blinded, but she masters being a good liar by saying that she's "Nobody", desperate for her eyes back. However, I believe that the "nobody" with the form of Jaqen H'ghar planned all of this in order for her to become a better fighter, but he does eventually give her eyes back.

4. Masks of the Dead

During the game, Link acquires different masks that give him special powers to carry on some heroic tasks. He also acquires four transformation masks where he can literally take the shape form and powers of a Deku, Goron, Zora, and at the end the Fierce Deity. He also acquires the Giants mask but he can't transform into them. These masks are of the dead. I think we can compare Link as being "nobody" in this game because he constantly has to wear masks, especially the ones of the dead.

.

Becoming " no one" gives you the gift of being to be able to wear any dead person's face. The "nobody" in this case is using Jaqen H'ghar as his mask. The gif below show's how one can change into the faces of the dead. However, we see Arya who isn't dead. I believe the man does this with Magic in order to blind Arya.

5. Unlikely Victories

After Link has fought so much evil, he is ready to fight Majora and it's wrath. We find that Skull Kid was possessed by Majora once. The curse was lifted from him he turned into the sweet guy he used to be. Now Link must fight Majora on his own with the transformation masks. He saves Termina from the doom of the moon crashing into their home and then makes everyone happy. Link then runs off for his next Journey.

Arya is in a similar position, she decides once she is told that she is ready to become "Nobody", to blurt out I am Arya Stark of Winterfell and storm out. Obviously there were going to be consequences to that and the waif finally has an excuse to use her wrath and kill Arya. After injuring Arya, the waif chases her all over Braavos. In the end she kills the waif with "Needle" and the waif's face is then placed on the pillar of the dead.

Feel free to discuss this with me! I would love to hear everyone's opinions! You can tell me this sucks or if you like it. I want also see if you guys have more connections!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
