I have been a very private individual. I still am; I have just a very few people I open up to. People tell me they can never really know what I am thinking because I just am such a closed person.
Although telling you all this may contradict my statement about opening up to very few people, sharing feels good.
I started writing regularly about four months ago. I do not in any way feel I have the ability to publish a best seller in the near future.
Maybe one day, who knows?
Writing is something you just get better at. Thanks to research papers, most of us would rather do anything but write in our free time. Even if you absolutely hate writing, I highly suggest you give it a try. Everyone has their genre, and If you like something, you enjoy it.
Write about it. It's that simple.
I love writing about anything I want. If you are someone who thinks you cannot write to save your life––write anyway.
Why? Because it's therapy.
It feels good to let your thoughts out, to share it with people who can relate. It helps to just let your feelings out in whatever form they come. You know it is like a to-do list you make when you are feeling overwhelmed. Even if you do not get to those things on the list, just making it feels like you have accomplished something, right?
Lightening the burden is what writing does.
You know how some people put post-it notes of inspirational quotes on their bathroom mirrors? They do that to push themselves or lift themselves up in the morning. Writing does the same thing. Try writing a few sentences about how you feel and follow it with something inspirational, as if a friend in need of your wisdom has called you up for help.
Write a few words of inspiration as if you would talk to a friend. Before you know it, you will be feeling so much saner and wiser. We are all capable of thinking well for ourselves. We are all wise; we just need to be in the right state of mind for it. That right state of mind comes after you clear those foggy thoughts up.
Writing will aid in clearing them up. So, not to worry! Pick up that pen or computer and write away! It's one of the most effective low-budget forms of therapy––I guarantee it.
