5 Reasons You Need To Vote

Your vote does matter.

You need to vote, and here's why.

I am not 100% for either of the two candidates that have been chosen for this year's election, and I'm sure some of you aren't either, but that does not mean that we shouldn't vote. For some of us, this will be our first presidential election where we have a say in the outcome, and this is something that should be taken advantage of.

1. Your vote does matter.

I have heard so many people say that they are choosing not to vote, simply because they do not believe that their votes matter. This is not the case. There have been many elections where the candidate has won due to an extra 7 votes or so in a particular county or state. Especially in the state of Wisconsin where we are known as a "swing vote" state in this election, meaning that it truly could go either way for where we live.

2. It is important.

It is important to go out and exercise your right to vote because this is something that keeps us as a democracy. It is what America, the land of the free stands for, giving us the ability to vote for whoever we choose.

3. It is important to educate yourself on the ENTIRE ballot.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will not be the only names on the ballot. It is important that you educate yourself on the entire ballot, rather than randomly choosing people.

4. This truly is a monumental election.

We have our first female presidential candidate, and we also have a businessman rather than a politician, both with ideas that are for the greater good of our country. This is an election that will be printed in history books, regardless of who wins. Don't you want to be a part of that?

5. There is more than just Hillary and Donald.

As I stated before, there are more options than just Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump that you can research and vote for. A popular one is Gary Johnson, who is a part of the libertarian party, and also a nominee for the president of the United States. This is always something to think about if it interests you to research his policies and ideas. I've heard many people say they aren't voting because they do not like either of the candidates, but it's important to keep in mind that they aren't your only two options. You can also write in your own candidate if you wanted too.

All in all, I can't stress enough the importance of voting on Tuesday. Do your research, and choose the candidate that you believe will keep America strong.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
