Why You Need To Let It Go

In order to grow as a person, you must designate the things that do nothing besides hold you back as part of the past and let them go.

In case nobody has told you lately: you need to let it go.

What exactly? Anything that drains your energy, anything that makes you shrink. You need to let go of anything that is no longer actively serving a purpose in your life, anything that is an unnecessary energy pit. You owe that much and more to yourself.

I think that often times it seems so difficult to let things go because of the fact that people feel that once you do, all your memories of the event or person or place simply dissolve like they never existed in the first place. We hold on and hold on to something that does not have a place in our lives anymore because we are simply too afraid to think of our lives without it.

But the reality is that by keeping something in your life (and by thinking about something, you are making the decision to preserve it), you are essentially sending a message out to the universe that you are not wanting of what it wants to give you in place of what you've lost.

Letting go is not an easy idea. It's no simple task to declare something is in the past and move on with your life, but it will be for your highest benefit. Why do you insist on pondering what once was over and over again? Why do you believe that you're going to find something different each time you play the same scenario over and over in your mind?

You already know the ending and it isn't pretty. Decide to demand more from yourself and from your life and let it go. It is difficult. But in order to grow as a person, you must designate the things that do nothing besides hold you back as part of the past and let them go.

Once you've moved on, you won't ever want to look back. There is so much more to life than reminiscing on old memories that don't actively better you. Once you've let go, you'll realize that by holding on, you were missing out on so many amazing things. Finally, those wonderful things have a chance to find you. And trust me, they will.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
