During the summer, my Instagram is full of sun-kissed selfies accompanied by some caption about how the new tan somehow makes life so much better. I used to believe that I was missing out on something extraordinary due to my "gingeritis" and disability to tan, but over the years I have realized that my porcelain skin is just fine. Here are just a few reasons that us pasty girls have it better.

1. Our skin can be compared to dolls

Yeah, you may think your bronzed skin is great, but do you have a doll named after your complexion?

2. Freckles

You may not think freckles are cute, but I happen to love a freckles face. If you’re too tan, those beautiful spots don’t really show up.

3. A natural deterrent

If someone is absolutely bothering you, you can blind them with your all natural light source.

4. Skin cancer risk is lower

Us pale gals know that we cannot tan, therefore we do not try to and stay inside more, therefore less chances of skin cancer

5. We have an excuse to stay inside

It is the middle of July so most days down here in Alabama it is 90 plus degrees outside. We have an excuse to stay inside when everyone else wishes they did.

All in all, every complexion is equally beautiful. Instead of trying to change what you were born with, embrace it. I know I used to dream of bronzed skin, but I am now happy with my unique color, and others should be happy with theirs too. The truth is, we were all made different for a reason. What kind of world would this be if we all looked the same?

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
