Spring Break is right around the corner! It's time to put on your bikinis, dust of the old beach chairs, and head on over to the beach. But for many of us college students, we tend to dive head first into Spring Break, and often come out of it with both fond, yet horrifying memories. No matter how amazing and epic the week was, we always come out feeling sore, sunburnt, and with a nasty hangover.

In order to prepare both myself and other Spring Breakers, I have compiled a list of essential items that we all need in our Spring Break survival kits.

1. Sunscreen and Aloe Vera

For those of you heading to the clear waters and sunny coasts this summer, make sure you pack your sunscreen. Believe it or not, our parents were right when they covered us head-to-toe in sunscreen lotion. And if you are a fair-skinned, paler than Casper, person like me, than you know that no amount of sunscreen will fully protect you from the devil that is the sun. That is why you need Aloe Vera. In case you forget to reapply your sunscreen, you have something that will cool your scorching skin.

2. Extra Cash

In case you happen to lose your wallet – or it gets stolen from you at a party – it is always best to keep a hidden stash of emergency cash around. You never know when you'll need it. Especially if you need to bail on of your friends out of jail.

3. WATER

Listen, you cannot, and I mean CANNOT hydrate your body with vodka. I know they are both clear and you can carry them in those hiking water bottles that you can put on your back. But if you want to be able to last the day, let alone the entire week, you gotta substitute that can of PBR with some actual water.

4. The Sober Friend

There is no other person you would want on your side in any situation than a sober friend. They can help you make rational decisions, make sure you aren't kidnapped or lost on an island somewhere, and they especially come in handy when trying to remember what hotel you're staying at. The sober friend is one necessity we all need to have on Spring Break.

Everyone should have a chance to experience Spring Break. It can be fun, messy, and even weird in some instances. We all experience Spring Break differently, but when you boil down to it, it's all about kicking back and having a great time with your closest friends. Besides, when are you ever going to be okay with sharing one small hotel room with six other people for a whole week?

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
