15 Awesome Worship Songs

There are times when you feel the need to get a nice drink of water or snack. Then, there are also times when you need a good song to get your worship on! The list of songs I am about to present to you are absolutely beautiful, and they set the Holy Spirit moving within you. This list ranges from emotional/tear-jerker to “get up and shout/dance.”

1. “Different Drum” by Blanca

This jam is an absolute upbeat song of living life as Christians. It is a modern piece of music that is great if you are looking for a worship song that makes you feel happy and unique. Blanca demonstrates that Christians live in the world, but not of it. This is important to living a Christian life. She also portrays the fact that as Christians we are different from the rest of the world: “we’re gonna march to the beat of a different drum…”

2. "How Great Thou Art” by Selah

Every Christian knows the spiritual power of this old hymn. The Selah version leaves me absolutely speechless and overcome with trust in God. The song begins with a complete run through with only the piano playing with no vocals. Then, after the run through, the vocals come in becoming stronger and stronger. In the end, as long as you are searching for God, you are left with a sense of perfect peace that is God’s presence.

3. “It is Well” by Bethel Music & Kristene DiMarco

The phrase “It is well with my soul” constantly touches me in a way that is beyond words. This song expertly exhibits how Jesus protects us and that we know He is in control. It is a declaration of giving yourself to God. It is such a powerful song that you end up putting it on repeat and singing along.

4. “God’s Not Dead (Like a Lion)” by Newsboys

This is a modern piece of music with piano, electric guitar, drums, etc. The words of this song are so important. These words declare that even though nonbelievers may try to say that God is not real or that Jesus was a man who is dead, we know the truth of the resurrection. We chant “God’s Not Dead.” This song is also used as the main theme of the popular movie “God’s Not Dead.”

5. “Hold Me” by Jamie Grace ft. tobyMac

This is a contemporary and cheerful song. My mom introduced this song to me and I am forever grateful. This is my daily theme. No matter what, I can always imagine God wrapping His protective arms around me throughout my entire day. Every time this song comes on I have to sing along to Jesus!

6. “Praise You in This Storm” by Casting Crowns

Jesus moves in me every time I hear this song. Every Christian goes through many storms. These lyrics are full of strength and remind us how strong God is, even when we are going through difficult times. Even though I may be hurting, God is still here. “Praise You in This Storm” reminds me of how God is in control. I will praise my Jesus through the storm.

7. “You Make Me Brave” by Bethel Music & Amanda Cook

This is absolutely one of my favorite songs of all time. “You Make Me Brave” reminds me of the verse Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Jesus truly does make me brave, and I cannot help but worship Him when this song is being played.

8. “How Can It Be” by Lauren Daigle

I am reminded of God’s unconditional love through this wonderful piece. God really has overcome death, and I am free. “How Can It Be” talks of Jesus’ unending mercy. I feel like everything is limitless when this song is being played. All I have to do is listen to the words, and I am in God’s amazing presence.

9. “No Longer Slaves” by Bethel Music, Jonathan David & Melissa Helser

This is definitely a song about freedom. Through God’s mercy I am free and no longer held a prisoner by sin. As the song notes, “I am a Child of God.”

10. “10,000 Reasons” by Matt Redman

The feeling of this song cannot be described clearly with words. This is simply a song of pure worship through the soul. I was filled with God’s presence when I first heard this song. It was just absolutely unbelievable. His presence was so strong that I felt as if I had a taste of heaven.

11. “Alive” by Hillsong

This contemporary Christian piece is extremely upbeat. “Alive” has such a strong beat that your feet will not stay still. This song talks of how God’s love frees us.

12. “Worn” by Tenth Avenue North

The words expressed here are my theme. It is literally a song about crying out to God for peace due to the “weight of this world.” I first heard this song when I was going through a terrible storm. God made this song play for me, because He knew I needed to hear it. This song is an emotional one for me. I cry almost every time I hear it. This song is not just a cry for help, but it is also a song of hope.

13. “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” by Chris Tomlin

This is the classic song of amazing grace. There is nothing more that can be said.

14. “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” by Hillsong UNITED

Like the song “You Make Me Brave,” this also reminds me of the verse Philippians 4:13. This song also declares that I am God’s and He is mine. This is a beautiful worship song of courage and faith.

15. “Holy Spirit” by Francesca Battistelli

As this song says, “Nothing can compare/you’re our living hope/ your presence Lord.” This is another of my favorite worship songs. The lyrics proclaim the need for Jesus’ presence. God does move strong within me through the lyrics of this piece.

This is a list of 15 wonderful worship songs. I pray that they move you like they have moved me. God bless you.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
