8 Things To Do If You Are In Need Of Some Laughter

When life gets ahead of you, it is easy to find yourself feeling down in the dumps and drained of your usual vibrant energy. Instead of succumbing to the fatigue and negativity, give yourself over to laughter and comedy. Although life can really suck sometimes, there is something beautiful and funny around every corner just waiting for the right moment to strike. So, sit back, relax, and let yourself go. It is time to smile and laugh, and here are some ways to expedite the process.

1. Watch "Impractical Jokers"

If you are not familiar with this hilarious TV show or the four ridiculous men that run it, you are missing out. The ringleaders themselves, Sal, Joe, Murr, and Q, are four life-long best friends that make comedic gold out of embarrassing each other. Their situational humor is quirky, edgy, and sometimes just blissfully stupid. If anything, their humor is mindless and entertaining, and what more could you ask for?

2. Imagine a flock of ruthless pigeons dropping massive sh*ts on the heads of all your enemies.

I think this one speaks for itself. Just picture it. That's some compelling imagery right there.

3. Look up videos of fainting goats.

You will NOT be disappointed.

4. Listen to some of Bo Burnham's songs on YouTube or watch one of his full-length comedy shows.

Bo Burnham's humor is not for the faint of heart, so tread lightly while exploring his videos. Bo is special because he uses music to convey a lot of his comedy, and in this he also brings up really important social critiques. If you love satire, you'll love Bo.

5. Drop everything you're doing and watch John Mulaney.

"New in Town" and "The Comeback Kid" are his hour-long comedy specials featured on Netflix. John is perfectly adorkable and awkward and his stories will have you rolling on your floor.

6. Stick a fake mustache on your TV.

Perhaps this one sounds a little juvenile, but it is definitely giggle-worthy. It's probably even funnier if alcohol is in the mix, but you can conduct this experiment perfectly sober. Place the mustache strategically on your screen so it has a better chance of landing on multiple faces. That way, you get more laughs out of the deal.

7. Watch this epic argument.

Once again, I don't know why goats are so funny.

8. Search for videos of Joe Machi doing stand-up.

You'll love Joe! He is so incredibly awkward and outrageous that his mannerisms and catchphrases alone will have you in tears. He only gets better though, because once he really starts with his edgy jokes, you are sure to laugh your head off.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
