After visiting Houston last week, there is so much to share about the culture of the South. I have lived in California my whole life so visiting Texas was a cool, unique experience away from the beach. So, if you are like me, there are a few things that are essential to know about Texas before you visit or plan on moving there. There is more to a city than just its local beach. Ive heard a lot of people say that Texas is almost like another country, but honestly coming from Los Angeles I didn't feel as if there were any huge differences between Houston and Los Angeles. On the other hand, there are a few things Texans can “throw down” better than your average Californian:

Tequila Shots:

I thought I liked tequila shots. Wait til you visit Texas because everyone there is used to drinking the good Patron/Don Julio that I could barely stomach. If you want to save yourself the embarrassment at the bars or with your Houston buddies, I would start acquiring the taste for tequila.

Kendra Scott Jewelry:

There is no doubt that Southern style is completely different from LA style. It is very chic and conservative. Before I met my best friend from Texas, I had never heard of Kendra Scott Jewelry. From my understanding, you're not from Houston if you don't own anything Kendra Scott. I would definitely recommend investing in one of her necklaces; they are cute and affordable!

Hungry’s Restaurant and Bar:

This one is for the Houston locals, but I am sure it will be prominent in many other cities within the next few years. While there are so many restaurants in Texas, Hungry’s is one you MUST check out if you are in the area. From burgers to tacos to pizzas, Hungry’s has it all with its own unique, delicious twist. My personal favorite was Southwestern Caesar Salad. Check it out at their two locations in Rice Village and Memorial!

Clé:

Houston has a great night life. If you're in town make sure you check out the one of the hottest clubs in Houston. It wouldn't be a surprise if you ran into Justin Bieber or another famous celebrity.

The Biscuit Paint Wall:

For all people Instagram and Social Media obsessed, this beauty is “Instagram worthy." So make sure you snap a picture with this French inspired piece before heading back home. Painted by French artist Sebastien Boileau.

Get Ready for the Heat:

If you can survive the heat and humidity in Texas, you can survive the heat and humidity anywhere else in the world. In the summer, it is usually over 100 degrees, but the good part is there is air conditioning everywhere.

Houston Zoo:

Animal lovers, this one is for you. Houston’s zoo is unique because you have an opportunity to feed the animals, like the giraffes.

IPic Theatres:

This theatre makes your movie experience one of a kind. You have your own personalized theatre, with reclining chairs where you can have the finest foods delivered right to your feet. While this isn't practical, I would highly recommend going to this theatre at least once. Also, no need to worry about going to dinner before the movie because there is a restaurant and bar inside the theatre.

While I was only in Houston for a week, the city easily grew on me and felt like home. There is something for everyone to enjoy in Houston. Everyone there is so welcoming and I will definitely be visiting soon!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
