We Need Prayer, Not Protest

God bless America.

We Need Prayer, Not Protest

The U.S. is in a time of transition. Donald J. Trump is officially president (whether you like it or not). Though this may not have been everyone’s top choice, a majority of Americans thought this to be the right decision for our country.

Trump’s presidency has conjured up a mix of emotions. I've seen tears of joy, but I've also seen tears of fear. No matter who you voted for or how you feel, our country needs your prayers.

Trump IS our new leader. Instead of the protests and riots, which will lead us no where, we need to be praying for Mr. Trump, his family, his Cabinet, the House, the Senate and all of the American people. Major decisions now lie in the hands of these people. We must not wish doom on them, for that would be wishing doom upon all of us.

I will be praying.

I will be praying for the success of President Trump. His success is America’s success.

I will be praying for God to guide our new leaders to make decisions they feel will be in the people's best interest.

I will be praying for any and all who have fear for their futures. Trust in God’s plan for the American people.

I will be praying for the healing of the ever apparent division in our country.

No matter our political views or backgrounds, it is time for the American people to come together and stand as one. It is time to put aside our differences, peacefully disagree and lift each other up instead of putting one another down.

Let us not be afraid. The Lord says to Joshua in Joshua 1:9, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Find comfort in our true leader, the King of Kings. No matter who is president, He is still almighty. He is still good. Trust in the Lord.

I, personally, found comfort in the fact that President Trump set a record for the most prayers in an inauguration, with six prayers, three invocations and three benedictions. More than ever, this is what America needs- to come together in prayer.

Towards the end of his inauguration speech, President Trump proclaimed, "...we are protected by God." May God protect our new President, and may God protect all of the American people.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
