Though it is obvious that the Affordable Care Act has not been perfect including its high costs for many, it is still true that millions of Americans are better off with this healthcare than with the no healthcare they had before. "Obamacare" has provided many people with health coverage for the first time in their lives. It is important that American citizens are no longer denied insurance based on their pre-existing health conditions, and that everyone have preventative care made available to them. Parents are even allowed to keep their children on their plan until they are 26. Even mental health and addiction is treated, things that most insurance companies avoid due to the cost of treatment. With insurance, people are able to buy their prescriptions for a reasonable price and to have the costs of necessary procedures covered, but without "Obamacare," many people will be out of options, which means many people will be unable to stay healthy. Families would not be able to pay for cancer treatments, insulin for diabetics, transplants, preventative mammograms, birth control.
There are changes that need to be made to continue to make it easier for all people to afford all the treatment they need, but getting rid of a healthcare system that has provided insurance to so many would be detrimental.
