Bad days. We all have them. Now, it goes without saying that spending time with God helps. He is the One who is with us always, no matter what state of life we might be in. But sometimes, looking at pictures of cute puppies can brighten your day too.
The further into the semester we get, the more schoolwork we have. And the more schoolwork we have, the more stress we have. It's a never-ending cycle. It's important, amidst the stress, to take time to relax, even if it's just for a few minutes.
Find time each day to take a breather - whether that be sitting down for a cup of coffee, taking a walk, calling a friend, saying a prayer, working out, or... looking at pictures of puppies.
I know, it sounds weird. Maybe a bit childish. But come on, below the stressed-out college student exterior is a soft spot for cute puppy pictures. We can't help it, puppies are just so darn cute!
Life's better with a friend at your side. They're there for you when you're stressed, as you are for them. And oftentimes, it's when you and your friend take an impromptu study break that the best memories are made.
I have so many friends who talk about staying up late or pulling all-nighters. I don't know how they do it. I have a hard time functioning when I get less than seven hours sleep. Sleep is not only a study break, but it's also really important to your health.
Everyone is different, we all have different things that make us happy, different things that make us tick. I have yet to meet someone who is annoyed by pictures of puppies. There's something about a puppy's big brown eyes that stare into your eyes, and melt your heart.
I've always been a dog person. But, growing up in a big family, we're busy a lot of the time. So we don't have a dog. My mom always tells me I can dog sit, and that she and my dad will adopt a dog for me when I move out of the house. Needless to say, one of the reasons I'm looking forward to moving out of the house is so I can finally have a dog.
As great as pictures of puppies are, they don't come close to actually being with a dog. Dogs are truly man's best friend, and oftentimes are very in tune to your emotions. Obviously, pictures of puppies aren't aware of our stress levels as college students. But, pictures of puppies provide a welcome distraction when you're stressed out because of studying.
So, to sum up - college is stressful. If stress was a major, we'd all have PhD's by now. The most important thing we can do when we're having a bad day is to spend time with God. It's important to take time out of our busy days to relax. Looking at puppies is a great way to do this.
Have a great day, and may you always smile at pictures of puppies.
