The Midwestern State Mustangs made it look easy against the Newman Jets in the team's third game of the MSU Round Robin on Feb. 11 at noon. Pitcher Peyton Helton held off the Newman Jets' offense while the Midwestern State Mustangs' offense scored eight runs in a five inning mercy rule victory. This moved the Mustangs' record to 5-6 on the season, and it moved Newman's record to 2-7 on the season.

Helton finished with no scores against her, and since the defense also played well, this made it her best game of 2017. This was Helton's second victory of the season, putting her pitching record at 2-2 on the year.

The offense was also a huge factor in the win, as they were able to score eight unanswered runs batted in on just eleven hits. This was the team's second shutout victory, and its second mercy rule victory.

The MVPs of the game were Helton as pitcher, Taylor Mordecai (three hits, three at bats, four RBIs, and one run) on offense, and Lauren Lindgren (two hits, three at bats, and three RBIs) on offense. This was the Mustang's third game in the MSU Round Robin, and so far they are 3-1 in the event.

MSU also won the fourth game against Southwest Baptist by a score of 10-3. Kelsey Knox was the MVP of that game, as she scored one run and three RBIs on four hits. The team's two Sunday games were cancelled for an unknown reason, so the next game on their schedule will be on Feb. 17 at 4 P.M. at Mustang Park.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
