73-9 is the record for the most wins in a season. This happened this season with the Golden State Warriors. They were destined to win the NBA title again, led by Steph Curry, record holder for most 3's in a season. However, Steph got hurt round one against the Rockets. With strong play from Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, they won the series. They then destroyed the Trailblazers, led by Damian Lillard, in a short series.
The OKC Thunder, led by Westbrook and Durant, were playing really hot after taking down the Spurs. The Spurs had only lost one game (vs. Warriors) at home this season. The Thunder took two at San Antonio. The Thunder and Warriors Western Conference finals was a crazy series. OKC was playing great and went up three games to one, and, with one win to move on, lost the last three. The Warriors dream season was still in the balance.
Lebron James and the Cavs had an easier path to get to the Finals. The Warriors came to play games one and two. Everyone thought it was about to be a sweep until the Cavs beat the Warriors by thirty in game three, but lost game four. Lebron James decided to take the whole team, put it on his back and lead his team to win the last three games along with the NBA title.
Lebron James, who is originally from Akron, Ohio, was drafted by the Cavs, but left to go to the Heat. In Miami, he went to four straight finals and won the second and third. He decided to go back home and lost in his first to the Warriors in the NBA Finals. This year, Lebron wasn't going home without a ring for his home. He led all players in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals; the first player to do so. He had a lot of help from Kyrie Irving, Tristan Thompson and Kevin Love, but he was definitely the MVP. He took down the Warriors after they were ahead three games to one. The Warriors are the first team to ever win a series after being down three games to one and then losing the finals when leading three games to one. The loss in the NBA finals outweighs the best record in NBA history.
