Trophy wives. A major part of the American ideal for many men. She's the topping on the cake of his accomplishments. Recently, Ayesha Curry has been the ideal American trophy wife. With the "darling smile" and a career that though successful, isn't something America tends to see as a big accomplishment. But let's get real, we order out more than we order in so without people like herself, a majority of us would hurt.
Ayesha hit the hearts of many men with her willingness to stand by her husband and still have time for her kids. During game six of the NBA finals, Americans' hearts turned on their sweetheart. When Ayesha chose to express her feelings about the game and an incident with her father that took place during the game on social media, twitter lashed out. When she became an actual person, her popularity declined.
One commentator stated that she is the wife of Steph Curry and should be a reflection of her husband. They devalued not only her as a person but also the career she worked so hard to achieve, as if her choosing to be his wife is a job rather than a role she gladly accepted.
As if that comment wasn't bad enough, the commentator continued to say that Ayesha should then take cues from Savannah James who is married to LeBron James of the opposing team. The similarities in the relationship have led the media to constantly compare the two. Both were high school sweethearts that ended up marrying and having children with. However, the media tends to afflict the women against each other rather than lifting them up with articles like "Who's Hotter: Savannah James or Ayesha Curry." This continuous cycle of undermining women as people and pitting them against each other has only cause more and more of a nuisance in our society.
