Why is nature so beautiful? Many obsess over the beauty that is found in the wilderness. People show their love with many posts and pictures all across social media. It's captivating and awe worthy even if you experience it just through photos. But why do people all across the country find their most treasured spot in the wilderness? The colors are beautiful and there are things that many do not see throughout their daily lives. However, these things can also be found in common culture. You can find bright lights of color and new experiences throughout society. How is this different than the adventures that we take into the unknown, unkempt land?

Maybe people find so much joy in the wilderness because it takes them away from their difficult lives. It helps them forget about the stresses that are brought on by the constant rush of the world that they live in. While adventures to new towns can help people forget about the stress in their lives there is something different that the wilderness opens up. It leads to a whole new world of beauty that no man can create.

Often times people find themselves in the wilderness because they can no longer deal with the world that they are a part of. Society can lead to the development of mental illnesses in the lives of many. Mental illness can change who a person is and how they interact with their lifestyle. The prevalence of mental illnesses, including depression and anxiety, are seen often in adolescence and children. One in out of every ten children is diagnosed with some sort of mental illness. Many of these children lack the self-esteem that they need to promote positive mental health. This self esteem that children gain in their youth tends to follow them throughout their lives. So if a child adapts to a low self-esteem they are then stuck with the unruly outcome. Low self-esteem is often related to poorer coping skills and can be the cause of inferior mental and physiological health.

However, this outcome can be reversed. Nature can truly change a person's life and how they see themselves in the world. Exposure to nature can help improve mental functioning, concentration and health both mentally and physiologically. Nature can also provide individuals with an improved self-esteem by allowing them to gain a connection to the natural environment around them caused by spending time in the wilderness. A lack of connection with the wilderness causes people to become sick more often both mentally and physically. Oftentimes, wilderness settings and connections can help reduce stress that is present in society and provide people with a heightened sense of belonging. When people hold a connection to the wilderness it can provide individuals with increased happiness.

Having a connection to the wilderness is something many find magical. Many find their happy spots in the woods. Others like to adventure to find themselves. Society is obsessed with the mystery of the beauty. But why? Why do I keep following Instagram pages that solely post pictures of nature and the wilderness? I constantly find myself wanting to go on adventures to unknown places and get out into the beauty of the world. Maybe it's because I find myself the most confident there. I find that I struggle less with comparing myself to others. I no longer stress about the the next day or the places I have to be. I no longer feel lost. I feel as if I somehow fit into the big open world as if it is my home. The happiness that the wilderness provides can change how individuals see the world but first one must discover it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
