Two Saturdays from now, July 30, marks National Cheesecake Day. Let’s start with a little background of how this smooth and creamy dessert came about! Although we don’t have a record of the earliest form of cheesecake, we know that it was popular in ancient Greece and probably originated there. Fast forward a few centuries to when cheesecake was introduced to the United States in the early 1900s. The most famous of cheesecakes inhabiting the US is, of course, no other than the New York style cheesecake. Arnold Reuben takes the credit of creating this famous New York style cheesecake with just a few simple ingredients such as cream cheese, cream, sugar, and eggs. The New York style cheesecake stands alone with no added toppings or fillers. As cheesecake became more popular throughout the US, more versions started popping up and toppings such as fruit and candy emerged. Now what better way to celebrate National Cheesecake Day than with some sweet deals?!
