Every student loves their school, whether it is because of academics, or athletics there is a reason we go where we go to get our degree. After trading a pair of wins against each other dating back to 2015, Alabama got the upper hand in the trilogy beating Clemson in the Sugar Bowl, 24-6.
It is very normal for teams to be upset about losing, it happens a lot against the Crimson Tide. But Clemson, don’t get too caught up with it, it's ok to be upset. A year ago, Alabama folks felt the same exact way. The only difference is, we don’t make excuses for it.
With that being said here are some reasons that, yes, Alabama is still better than Clemson:
1. Nick Saban:
It’s hard to argue that Dabo Swinney even compares to Nick Saban. Saban has six championships opposed to Swinney with one. Saban is an up front type of guy, he says it like it is and doesn’t hold back. Swinney, on the other hand, is not. Plus, Dabo isn’t even his real name.
2. Bryant-Denny Stadium:
Clemson may have the sunset views, that’s ok. Here in Tuscaloosa, we have “The Walk of Champions” where all 17 National Championships sit cemented into the walkway. An add on to that, all the statues have a National Championship under the coaches name. You can’t say that with Clemson.
3. Yes, we have an elephant as our mascot:
Yes, our mascot is an elephant. Do you realize how many schools have a Tiger as a mascot? I can name multiple off the top of my head. Always remember, a tiger might be faster, but an elephant stands taller and puts up a bigger fight.
4. Campus:
Alabama’s campus speaks for itself as well. Anywhere from the quad, to the fountain by Shelby Hall is beautiful. UA is the state’s oldest continuously public university, so you want history and historic buildings? Come to Tuscaloosa.
5. The Location is pretty nice too:
Tuscaloosa is only a few hours from Atlanta, and we also have beaches. The Gulf Shores and Orange Beach is our getaway. There is also Flora-Bama, it sits on the Florida/Alabama line. Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffett both have songs about this hot spot.
6. We go all out in spirit:
All I have to say is look at the quad on game day and the strip. The atmosphere speaks for itself. Crimson and houndstooth flood Title Town come Saturday’s in the fall.
7. The number 17:
17, that's how many championships are in Tuscaloosa. Half of 17 is still more championships then Clemson has.
8. Academics:
Clemson may be ranked higher than Alabama in academics, but when a kid turns down every Ivy League school to come to UA the school is doing something right. And don’t worry, it is just getting better.
9. The weather:
The weather in Tuscaloosa is pretty nice. If you haven’t seen the quad in the fall, on a snow day, or a bright sunny day, you are missing out.
