In a society that is starting to understand women’s equality and rights, P!NK’s songs are the anthems for empowering women to know their true worth. Without ever having a huge scandal, she’s been an idol without disruption.

She has never let America down in a way that has abused her fame or her name. She understands that raising her daughter is the single most important thing in her life which is why she focuses her time and speeches on her daughter. She also recognizes the greats of the past such as Whitney Houston as she said that was her inspiration for singing at the Super Bowl.

Furthermore, she was the perfect depiction of how strong Americans are as she was struggling to sing through the National Anthem after contracting the flu. She powered through an awful flu bug because she knows her priorities and her strength. She showed up with a smile on her face and sang through the pain because that’s what Americans do.

Even though things may get us down, we power through them for what we know is important and what we have our eyes set on. When we have plans and hopes, we let nothing get in our way.

Furthermore, P!NK was not sexualized in her outfit. She wore a modest pink army printed suit without excessive cleavage or tightness. She looked beautiful without sending the message that we need to be sexual in order to be as beautiful as her. She showed that she has more to her than what appears to the eye because she had both class and confidence. She may not be the youngest and most up and coming artist, but she’s one of the most inspirational and strongest. She’s stuck around for so long because of her ability to remain true to herself and her music.

P!NK, thank you for showing young girls what power and strength on the T.V. screen looks like.

Thank you for showing men that women are much more than just their bodies (even though you are beautiful and COULD flaunt it if you wanted to). P!Nk, thank you for being a beautiful soul without having to class it down. Thank you for keeping the high-level of class that you have proven to have throughout all of time.

Your smile is what captures all of your beauty and intelligence. I can tell you are a kind soul every time you flash a smile because it appears genuine and doesn’t only look directly at the camera. It’s so fun to watch you perform because your facial expressions are so deep and personal, even if we are many, many miles away from each other.

Even if you are performing in front of millions of people and there’s only one of you, can feel the connection to your soul that you share with so many of your fans because you are a genuine artist, which is incredibly difficult to find in this day and age.

You’ve always been an inspiration for me to find my inner strength and independence as a woman and an effective member of society. Your songs are my anthems for whether it’s getting over a breakup, gaining confidence, finding motivation, and the list goes on and on. You are my idol because of what you have accomplished and how relatable your songs are. Thank you for sharing your lyrical genius and experiences with us who can relate. Your confidence and sense of self is something that you’ve worked hard to achieve and is something I hope to achieve some day as well.

Thank you.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
