Disclaimer: This article will not promote any of my personal views because I do not feel pushing my beliefs on others is the way to strive in America.
First of all, I get politics is a necessity to an extent, but it is not our life. Yes, I am eighteen years old and I will exercise my rights by voting in the upcoming election, but I will not allow it to consume my life.
Today, you cannot even log onto social media without seeing everyone’s political opinion, whether you want or not. It is their right to speak out. I have that right, too, so here I go.
No matter who is voted President of the United States of America next month, God is still God. A liar or cheater or whatever else you want to call the presidential candidates (because that seems to be the trend) will take residence in the White House, and that will have to be okay as long as God forever takes residence in our hearts. Once you think about it, we were founded by the words “One nation under God." While they can take God out of the country, they cannot take it out of me.
It would be wrong of us to allow something that pales in comparison to God, like the presidential election, hinder us from our work here on Earth. No matter who takes the place in office, we were placed on this earth, in the United States of America, to serve God humbly and whole-heartedly. We are to witness, not form disagreements with others based on their opinion. We are to pray, not bicker. I am not saying to let someone run over you, but be mindful and act like Christ would.
Someone unworthy of such titles as president may sit with authority, but I know God has all authority.
Someone may sit in the White House, but I know who sits on the throne in Heaven.
Let’s not get so caught up in the arguments that we forget that our all-knowing, all-powerful God already knows who is going to win and what it going to happen after.
Let’s not forget that the candidates were created in the same image that we were.
Let’s not forget that they are human children of God, just like us.
We are One Nation Under God.
I believe in God.
I believe He is the reason we live and breathe.
I believe that He has us in the palm of His hand and as long as we cling to Him, we will survive anything and everything that comes our way.
