If Hillary is nasty, they must be too.

Some Other "Nasty Women"

Donald Trump insulting women is nothing new, which is extremely sad. In the year 2016, we have a candidate for President of the United States who can get away with belittling women with his words, with little to no consequence. He has insulted women and gloated about sexual assault and has blown it off as "locker room talk". Now, neither candidate is perfect and this election has in no way been civil. Both candidates have crossed lines and not been very polite to each other, but Donald Trump calling Hillary Clinton a 'nasty woman' not only to her face but on live television really struck a nerve with me. He sounds like a 4th grader making snarky comments without even stopping to think of the consequences. I know the final Presidential debate happened almost two weeks ago, but the comment he made has stuck with me. It made me think about the kind of role model Donald Trump is, especially for young people. He makes it seem okay to use your words to insult people who don't agree with you and this is not the kind of person the next generation should be looking towards for guidance. If the first words that came to mind about Hillary, who has been in politics her whole life, when she said something he didn't agree with was 'nasty women', that says a lot about the kind of person he is.

If his definition of a 'nasty women' is Hillary Clinton, then I have compiled a list of some of the other 'nasty women' in politics, and how they would be a better role model for the next generation than Donald Trump.

Hillary Clinton

Obviously, you have to start with Hillary Clinton, the original 'nasty women'. Hillary shows the kind of person and candidate she is by not letting the 'nasty women' comment get to her by continuing on with the debates. She is the kind of role model the next generation deserves. I am an 18-year-old girl who is interested in getting into politics, so I look up to Hillary Clinton. She's not perfect, but then again no one is. I do not admire her just because she is a woman and I am not voting for her just because she is a woman. I admire her strength and how she fought her way in a political world usually dominated by white men. She has had her voice heard in politics for 30-40 years, which is amazing for anyone. She has dedicated her life to making a change in the world and helping others. She shows the next generation that hard work will pay off in the end.

Michelle Obama

I've loved Michelle Obama since she first stepped into the White House. She has the grace and class that is hard to find in the political world. She is the first African-American First Lady and throughout her time as First Lady has advocated for healthy living, fighting childhood obesity, LGBTQIA rights, and fighting for girls education around the world. She has become known for her speeches. In her speech at the Democratic National Convention she showed exactly the kind of person she was with her quote, "When they go low, we go high." She shows the next generation that you shouldn't stoop down to someone's level when they are being mean or a bully, you have to rise above it.

Elizabeth Warren

Elizabeth Warren is no stranger to Donald Trump's comments, he gave her the nickname "Pocahontas" because of her alleged Native American heritage. Like Hillary, she didn't let his words bother her. She is the current and first female Senator for Massachusetts and consistently fights for women’s rights, paid family leave, low-wage workers, fair trade and affordable education. She shows the next generation that when you put your mind to something, you can accomplish it.

Loretta Lynch

Loretta Lynch is the first African American woman to be Attorney General. She has been involved in the law from a young age when her grandfather told her stories about helping people escape to the north from the cruel Jim Crow Laws in the south. She began her career by fighting for the rights of those in New York as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York and then moved her way up to become Attorney General. She shows the next generation that you can do what you love and help people at the same time.

Elena Kagan, Ruth Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor

Elena Kagan, Ruth Ginsburg, and Sonia Sotomayor are all supreme court justices. Whoever becomes the next President of the United States also gets to choose Supreme Court Justices and these ladies are an example of how to act.

"My mother told me to be a lady. And for her, that meant be your own person, be independent." -Ruth Ginsburg

"I have no regrets. I don't believe in looking back. What am I proudest of? Working really hard and achieving as much as I could." -Elena Kagan

"Until we get equality in education, we won't have an equal society." -Sonia Sotomayor

These quotes from each of them show how strong they are about what they fight for and how hard they work. Sonia Sotomayor is the first Justice of Hispanic heritage, and along with Elena Kagan, is one of the youngest Supreme Court Justices. Ruth Ginsburg is only the second female Supreme Court Justice. All three of these women stick to what they believe in and do what they think is right. They show the next generation that you should always fight for what you believe in, even if others don't agree with you.

Janet Yellen

Janet Yellen is the first female to be Chair of the Federal Reserve. She has been involved in economics since the 1970s and has been nicked "the dove" on Wall Street because she is more concerned with unemployment than inflation. She has won many awards and honors for her work with the economy. She shows the next generation that women can be excel in science, math, and business.

These women are inspiring the next generation to do whatever they put their minds too and are better role models than Donald Trump can ever be.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
