Pineapples.

Surf Disco.

Guitar.

Bass.

Trumpet.

Drums.

Keys.

Vocals.

What more can you ask for besides the name of the band who takes all of these elements and puts them together into a killer musical masterpiece?

THE OUTER VIBE.

Never heard of them? Well, you are about to be mesmerized by their sweeping guitar riffs, smooth vocals and trumpet flares throughout their musical vacation they put onto their cds.

I might be a tad biased because I've known this band for quite a few years now but they are beyond words when it comes to the kind of humans they are and the music they put out.

Originally from Grand Rapids, MI and now basing from Nashville, The Outer Vibe has grown up being one of the sensational acts of Grand Rapids and has already had a few US tours that have gotten states all over buzzing about their music. They now are a part of CTM or Catch this Music Studios and making their mark in Nashville. (For all my Nashville friends, make sure you check them out!)

This band has my heart with their personality and you will feel it through their music as you listen and sing along to the tunes.

I'm really advocating for them right now because they have a kick ass show on

December 22nd

at

The Pyramid Scheme

and I won't be able to be there- so, you should get your butt to hear their new music!

The band already has an array of albums out that are all happy, feel good music, and who doesn't like that? Here are a few of my favorite tunes from their previous albums.

If anyone asks, this is the old and original jam of TOV. Anyone who is a die hard fan can jam to this song any day.

If you want to hear my rendition of it, check it out below:

One of their newer videos and still another jam (all their songs are jams).

As Lisa states on the bands blog, the point of the music video was to:

1. Set up gear and play the song

2. Lay in lawn chairs and play the song

3. Play in the water park

I'm pretty sure they accomplished every single one of those things and looked good doing it.

My favorite line in this song is "Coca Cola Grenadine." My favorite thing to drink.

This video also features Ginger Zee from Good Morning America and Ben Aaron, another NYC TV Personality.

And my personal favorite, shot out in the Badlands of South Dakota, Shining Like a Diamond!

Riding on the back of an ol' orange Chevy, mountains galore and a burning piano.

How can it get any better?

This is the important one though! Recorded down in Nashville and being their first official release after moving there, "Why Don't You Listen?" is one of my new favorites.

It tells what's on a lot of people's minds and applies to me with technology and not talking to each other face to face and being buried in our phones, computers, etc.

Check out this lyric video as we (hopefully!) wait for a music video to come out.

Along with this song, 3 other BRAND NEW songs will be released on a CD you can only get at the Pyramid Scheme show!

So... you have to get your tickets!

Get a ticket and go for me at least, and fall in love with a new band.

If you want to check out their merch, music, updates on touring and recording, the blog or to directly contact the band, head on over to: http://theoutervibe.com for more info!

DECEMBER 22nd. The Pyramid Scheme. Be there.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

Economic Benefits of Higher Wages

Nobody deserves to be living in poverty.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
