Let's be real here: sometimes, you just can't avoid taking that much needed and long overdue nap. That was me last Sunday-- I planned a 45-minute nap. However, it ended up being that plus about 3 more hours. Don't judge me. I don't need judgement. I needed that nap, and you've needed one just like it before.
Saturday, September 10, I woke up at 4 a.m. to drive to The University of Arkansas at Monticello to take one of my Praxis tests. Now, taking that test alone can exhaust an individual. But, I drove three more hours after that, babysat, and didn't go to bed until 11:30 p.m. When my head hit that pillow, I was out. That never ever happens for me.
So, yes, I took that nap. I love me some naps. Most of the time they are only about 45 minutes long, but when I can get a longer nap in I do. I'm totally that person that wishes they would've taken advantage of nap time in kindergarten while they could've. I always thought my parents were crazy when they slept half of their days away every Sunday. But, now I realize how wrong I was for thinking they were crazy. I wish I would've taken those naps. Now, I hardly ever have the time for a nap. And, when I do get the chance, I'm more than happy to take it. Naps should never be taken for granted.
"Let's start by taking a smallish nap or two..." -Winnie the Pooh
That quote was a serious piece of wisdom from Winnie the Pooh. Pooh knew what the best things in life were. That's my challenge for everyone, today. Take a nap.. Or two. Come on. You know you want to.
"Eat. Sleep. Create."
I don't know who said it or wrote it, but those three very simple sentences are the epitome of the beauty of life. They knew what to say to express what everyone was thinking. And, finally, I'll leave you with this:
"Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap." -Barbara Jordan
