What did we do before Pinterest? Sometimes I take it for granted that literally anything I could ever want instructions or inspiration for is just a click away. I pin thousands of ideas, some of which I intend to use, but most of which I forget about until I can't remember where I put my banana muffin recipe (again), and there it is, safely pinned and ready for me to use.

Party planning and decorating is usually my biggest reason for binge-pinning. It's a huge help when coming up with ideas for Vacation Bible School and other church events, such as the pizza and movie party we recently held for the class that won a canned food drive.

My husband and I are HUGE NERDS, so when the kids requested "The Force Awakens" as the movie, we were ecstatic. I got pinning right away.

There are a lot of good ideas out there, but my favorite was a pin for Stormtrooper Cupcakes. I mean, just look at these little morsels!

Admittedly, I didn't read the whole thing. I just browsed the pictures, mostly, but I got the gist. These were going to be the best homemade Star Wars Cupcakes ever! Spoiler: Nailed it!

I started out by making 2 boxes of cupcakes. I didn't frost them until they were at the party location, since they are a lot easier to transport before they're iced.

While they were cooling and baking, I used the time in between to draw Stormtrooper faces on all of my marshmallows. Well, almost all of them. Hint: Buy more marshmallows than you actually need, just in case some of the faces turn out wonky. Also, some of my marshmallows were stuck to the bottom of the bag, so plan to have a few extras! Another Hint: After drawing on the faces, don't allow the marshmallows to touch. While it may not seem like there will be any color transfer at first, if you leave them touching for too long, they will smudge each other.

After icing the cupcakes, you're ready to begin putting the little marshmallow helmets on top. If your frosting isn't perfect, don't sweat it. I found that you'll be able to use the helmet to correct/hide some of the imperfections.

Hint: I used toothpicks to make sure the helmets stayed in place. Since I assembled these a couple of hours before the party, I didn't want to come back through to find a bunch of decapitated Stormtroopers because the marshmallows slid right off the frosting. Just be sure to inform your guests so they are aware of the toothpicks!

Soon, you will have your very own army of Stormtroopers! Hint: Make sure you select a style of Stormtrooper before you begin. There is a difference between the way Classic, Clone and First Order Stormtroopers look. These are First Order Stormtroopers, since the party was themed around "The Force Awakens."

And there you have it! Are you ready to party? Because I'm ready to party! Maybe I'll make these again when "Rogue One" comes out... Hmmm...

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

Economic Benefits of Higher Wages

Nobody deserves to be living in poverty.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
