We run down the beach at midnight,
the dampened sand squishing between our toes,
the warm summer air gliding against our skin.
The cool distill lagoon is suddenly awakened by a dozen giggling girls,
exhilarated by the moment's thrill.
The once desolate pool, suddenly teemed with life -
frogs croak,
crickets chirp,
cicadas sing.
We twirl around the water,
fish dancing at our feet.
The water wraps around our bodies,
engulfing us in its cool embrace -
inviting us to remain there forever.
And we accept,
for in that moment we are one with the water -
we move with it,
swirl with it.
Our skin dissolved until we become it,
then suddenly re-morph back into humans,
the moment passing in the blink of an eye.
