In preparation for the spookiest day of the year, let’s celebrate all of the creepy and unexplained occurrences Earth delights us with year-round!

1. Star Jelly

This is magical jelly-like substance has no known source, but many speculate that it settles on Earth during meteor showers.

2. Ball Lightning

Not much is known about this type of lightening, but it appears as a moving orb of energy that can last up to a minute.

3. Volcanic Lightning

This can also be referred to as dirty thunderstorms. This phenomenon occurs when lightning happens during the ash storm of a volcanic eruption. There is no common cause agreed upon by scientists.

4. Hessdalen Lights

These mysterious lights began to appear over the Hessdalen Valley in Norway at the end of 1981 and continued with frequency until 1984. The lights can still be viewed today, but they are much less frequent. There is no known cause.

5. Waterspouts

These are caused by a whirlwind, or tornado, concentrating over a body of water. They are often accompanied by thunderstorms and high winds. Some scientists even speculate that most of the Bermuda Triangle incidents can be attributed to waterspouts.

6. Earthquake Lights

These are great electrical charges that show up as eerie lights occurring on or near tectonic stresses or volcanic eruptions.

7. The Hum

In certain cities across the world there is a low-pitch, droning hum only audible to 2-11% of their inhabitants. This has been reported most notably in Taos, New Mexico, but can also be found in Bristol, England and Wellington, New Zealand as well. Scientists are unsure if the hums are a result of the same cause or are different phenomena entirely.

And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
