10 Things To Do In Myrtle Beach

I have been vacationing in Myrtle Beach with my family every summer for almost 11 years now. You would think that after spending one week every August at the same beach would get old after a while, but we always manage to switch it up and enjoy our lazy beach days. We have learned the dos and don'ts of the popular beach town over the last decade.

If you're heading to Myrtle Beach any time soon, here are some things to try. There are places to go and things to do for all ages.

1. Ripley's Aquarium

Located at Broadway at the Beach, a center with rides, restaurants, shops, and small exhibits. Ripley's Aquarium gives tourists a chance to view rare sea animals or take a look at their special museums; one time there was a Mermaid exhibit for the Ariel lovers out there.

2. Family Kingdom Amusement Park

If you're looking to do something other than the beach, the Family Kingdom Amusement Park offers the boardwalk experience, complete with rides and stands to entertain you for the night.

3. Barefoot Landing

Barefoot Landing is similar to Braodway at the Beach. There are shops, restaurants, and small attractions. There is even alligator feeding for the younger kids in your party.

4. Jet skiing and Banana Boating

There are places all over Myrtle Beach at offer jet skiing, banana boating, and even parasailing. it is really fun if you like the water and are looking for a way to change up a simple beach day.

5. NASCAR Speedpark

NASCAR Speedpark is a good way to spend an evening (it's super hot during the day with all the engines), but if there are younger kids with you, you should definitely try it once.

6. Myrtle Beach Pelicans game

If you love baseball, a fun minor league game is always a must. You can spend the night watching the between-inning antics and eating a stadium hotdog.

7. Myrtle Waves

Myrtle Waves is a water park in Myrtle Beach. It's another fun way to spend the day while keeping cool in the heat.

8. Mini golfing

Myrtle Beach is known for its golf courses. The mini golf courses are no different. They offer pretty elaborate courses, perfect for a friendly rivalry among your family.

9. McAlister's

McAlister's is a chain deli. My family always makes a stop after the airport, on the way to our hotel. They're known for their enormous baked potatoes. So, if you love a good spud, you should head there. You can top it with whatever you'd like (bacon, sour cream, etc).

10. Broadway at the Beach

Broadway at the Beach is probably my family's favorite place to go. There are tons of restaurants, attractions, and shops to browse. We usually spend a few nights wandering around. it is home to the famous Margaritaville, Hard Rock Cafe, and Kiss Cafe. So, if you're looking for a place to spend an evening; Broadway is definitely the place to go.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
