An Open Letter To Coffee

You were my first love and taught me what love was.

An Open Letter To Coffee

From that first sip in the morning to that very last drop in my glass. I don't know what I would ever do without you. You make me happy as I can feel the coldness of each sip run down my throat and into my stomach. Ever since I can remember, I have always been fond of you. From stealing sips of my mom's coffee to eventually convincing her to let me have my own, I couldn't think of any other love that is greater than the love I have for you.

I'll admit, at first I didn't know what I was doing. I drowned you with flavored coffee creamer and loaded you with tons of sugar. I was toxic to you and tried to change you so you would be what I wanted you to be. But as I got older and grew wiser, I realized that you taste better when you come as you are, in your natural form. Although sometimes you're taste can still be a little to strong for me, I couldn't even begin to imagine trying to change you like I did in the past.

Whenever I'm having a bad day the first thing I can think of that will cheer me up is stopping somewhere and getting a fresh cup of coffee. It's like an instant rush of happiness as soon as I indulge in that first sip. Just you and I, in the car, windows down and the music up, only you can make my day do a complete 180 and put me into a state of bliss.

And there's no better co-pilot than you. You go so well with all the music I like to listen to and you don't even though a fuss when I have the same song on repeat for 30 minutes. I feel like I'm on top of the world when I'm driving around with you next to me in my cup holder.

I don't know what I would ever do without you in my life. You're like the sun to my shine, the peanut butter to my jelly, and of course the coffee to jumpstart my morning. Without you my life would be incomplete and insignificant. I will love you to the end.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
