January

As a Vermonter, I have always been a fan of winter (to an extent). One Sunday my best friend and I decided to go up to the mountain with her dad while he went skiing. We took advantage of the beautiful scenery, and well did what we enjoy doing the most together: had a photo shoot of course!

February

The month of February can be challenging to many. People are sick of the cold and over the snow. This past year, my friends and I made the most of it by driving to Hampton Beach for a few hours. It was the most beautiful day, sure it was cold, but we made the most of it!

March

In March I went to Pittsboro, NC for alternative Spring Break where we worked with Habitat for Humanity. Myself, along with 21 other Endicott students spent the whole week working on building houses for families in need. This is definitely one of the highlights of my year because I became so close with everyone on our group. ASB made me appreciate the feeling of hard work and doing it for a great cause.

April

I went to my first Red Sox Game! And they won!

May

The end of the school year was bittersweet because not only was it the end of another year, I wouldn't be returning to campus in the fall because of study abroad. This was a year new friends and adventures, and I wasn't expecting to be emotional at the end of the year...but I was.

June

Summertime in Vermont means endless scoops of Ben & Jerry's

July

Took my first mini road trip to visit friends. With the open road ahead, good music and good snacks, it was so much fun to drive solo by myself

August

With a month full of goodbye's, it was hard to leave my three best friends, but they gave me all the courage I needed to spend the next four months abroad.

September

I loved exploring around Copenhagen during the first month because everything was new!

October

My class trip to Ireland was definitely a highlight from the semester. Thankful for these wonderful people for making it amassing (< Dorte voice)

November

I was so fortunate to have my whole family come visit me during Thanksgiving break. We spent the week exploring both Paris and Copenhagen together. I loved showing them around both cities, but Copenhagen especially because it has become my home the last three months.

December

Being home during the holidays after being away for four months is amazing. I have always loved just sitting by the tree, looking at all the ornaments and lights placed perfectly on the branches.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
