My Wish For The One That Got Away

You may not see the good in yourself, but that is all that I see.

My Wish For The One That Got Away

You know that person, the person who you want to give the world to but they won't let you? It's the worst kind of feeling. Knowing that you have so much love to give and they feel as though they aren't deserving of it? I can't say I don't get it because there have been numerous times that I have felt as though I was undeserving of love. But here's the thing — if someone is going to love me, they're promising me that they will be there for me, then I'm going to let them. There is no better feeling than being loved by those around you. Whether it be a friendship type of love or more than that — it's all worth fighting for.

To the person who I chose to love, who feels as though they aren't worthy of what I have to give —

I have a few wishes for you.

I wish that you would stop being so hard on yourself. Stop thinking the worst about yourself and feeling as though you're an awful person. You don't see it, but like I've told you a million times: you're one of the greatest people that I know. And nothing can change that.

I wish that you would let your guard down and allow people in. It's almost like you are trying as hard as you can to purposefully keep everyone out. But here's the thing: there are so many people who are wanting to love you and care for you — you just have to let them. I know people have let you down in the past, but if you hold that against every person you meet then you won't ever find what you are looking for.

I wish that you would find whatever you are looking for. You want to self-reflect and be alone, well I hope that you find whatever it is that you're longing for. Even if it's not — I wish you nothing but happiness. You deserve nothing less than that.

I wish that you would see the beauty in this world. You have so much to offer and give to others but you first need to see the beauty of what's around you.

I wish that you would be successful in your life. Not that you already aren't, because you are one of the most driven and hardworking people I know.

I wish that you would open up. I wish that you would stop closing yourself off from everyone. I wish you would see what is right in front of you. I wish that you saw yourself the way that I do. I wish that you would be happy. I wish that you would be pain-free and that the heavy weight on your shoulders would disappear. I wish you the best life possible and that you learn to be happy with yourself. I wish nothing but the best for you, because even though I wasn't able to give it to you, that doesn't mean that you don't deserve it.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
