Growing up in Georgia, I experienced snow at least a few times a year. However, after I moved to southern California 4 years ago, I never saw snow again.
I began to regret the things I didn't do when I had snow. For example, I rarely went sledding, and when I played in the snow, I stayed out for half an hour at most. My main regret is not learning and enjoying skiing properly. The last time I went skiing was when I was 11. In Snow Mountain, I enjoyed ice skating and tubing, but I was terrified of skiing. I hated to feeling of falling on the frosty ground. I felt that I had less control over the way I moved than I did when skating. Although we rented all the ski equipment, I gave up on skiing after only 2 hours.
After not seeing snow for a few years, I feel that skiing/snowbarding would be so fun. I want to ski and snowboard, but there aren't many opportunities to do so, especially due to my busy high school life. For this winter break, I finally convinced my parents to take me to see snow.
We plan to go to Utah, where we can snowboard, ski, skate, and tube. This time I will be sure to use this opportunity to truly learn to ski and snowboard.
On the way back to our city, we will stay in Las Vegas (in my city, it's the easiest place to go to when you need a vacation because its only a few hours away). There, I can go dress shopping for Winter Formal with my mom.
And finally the rest of my break will be full of sleeping in, hanging out with my friends, working on school projects, and studying for my finals, which take place not long after we finish break.
I hope I can have a great winter break after my stressful Junior year fall semester.
