My Weight Loss Journey: How I Lost 100 pounds in 1 Year!
Toni Lynn DiGristina

We all know how hard it is to lose weight. It is definitely a lot harder than riding a bike. There are all these new weight loss diets and trends that claim to work, but sometimes it just doesn't. Losing weight is a big step in changing your life for the better. Here is how I lost 100 pounds in a year!

My whole life I was always heavy. I could never fit into the clothes the kids my age wore, and I always had to wear clothes that made me look older than I was. When I was in seventh grade, I started to diet. At first, my mom and I did Weight Watchers, and that was going pretty well for a while. I was going to meetings, my weekly weigh ins and I was losing weight! After about a year, I gave up. I was tired of not being able to eat what I wanted and the whole experience was boring to me. I just wanted to stop, so I did. I gained all the weight I lost plus more.

When I was a freshmen in high school, my doctor began to worry about my health. She told me that I would be at risk for diabetes if I didn't change my eating habits. My doctor put me on this no-carb diet and I had to write down what I ate every day and weigh in with my doctor. After about six months, I wanted to stop because the diet was just not working for me, and I would cheat...A LOT! Once again, I gained all the weight that I had lost, plus more.

In my senior year of high school I was at the heaviest. I weighed 305 pounds and have finally accepted that this is how I was going to look forever because no other diet plan was working. Through out my senior year I ate a lot of fast food! I would eat Wendy's or Burger King at least four days a week! Why? Because I had a car and it was quick. I was happy on the outside, but deep down, I was drowning.

As I entered college, I realized that I wasn't happy with how a looked. Pictures of me would make me cry and I knew I had to change. My sophomore year of college is when I began losing weight. I cut everything that I used to eat out of my diet cold turkey and lived off of grilled chicken and salad. I only drank water, and boosted up my protein intake! I never ate fast food or anything greasy again, and I controlled my portions. I joined a gym and was going there every night! I also did Zumba up at school on Monday nights. Pretty soon, the weight was melting off and my clothes started to become really big on me.

Fast forward to junior year of college, where I have lost 100 pounds! I never thought in a millions years I would have lost that much weight! Losing weight has never been an easy task for me and it took me a long time to realize that I needed to better my health in order to have a better life! I am the thinnest I have ever been and I could not be more proud of myself! Of course the road for me doesn't stop here. I am still on my diet and I still go to the gym. One big accomplishment for me is that I can now run around the track in my town WITHOUT stopping! I was never able to do that before. I still have more work to do, but I am proud of how far I have come.

To anyone who is trying to lose weight: YOU CAN DO IT! Believe in yourself, push yourself and you can take over the world!

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
