There has never been a time when I was that skinny kid, not even when I was younger. I have pretty much always been a little higher in the weight category compared to my peers. Does that mean I’m not healthy? I am not pretty because I am not a size two?
We live in this world where obesity is becoming more common, but we all wish we were a size two. So we have people in this world that starve themselves, abuse laxatives, or force themselves to vomit after eating. It is a time where you don’t even have to know the person next to you to know that they are probably not happy with their weight and have either tried or are currently trying to lose weight even though they are probably at a healthy weight.
What we don’t look at is there actual level of health, are they in any danger of getting heart disease? Or diabetes? Or any other illness? I am heavier than the normal 21-year-old, I’m not afraid to admit it, am I happy that I am overweight? No of course not, but I don’t obsess over not being a size two. Because at the end of the day I know my weight does not define the person that I am.
No one should feel horrible for their weight or the way they look! I shouldn’t have to be considered plus size in Forever 21 because their clothes are cut smaller than normal. Being an extra-large isn’t a horrible size. I am what I am. Whether it be a small or a 3X. Everyday people are bullied because of their weight, too thin, too big. IT’S TIME FOR IT TO END! It’s time for everyone to mind their own business! Or as the Kasey Musgraves song goes “Mind your biscuits and life will be gravy!” someone else’s weight or the way they look is none of your concern!
If you get one thing out of this article I ask that it be to not judge anyone for the way they look. Everyone is going through something and everyone is different! Just because they don’t look “picture perfect” (because that’s what we are told we have to look like) doesn’t mean that they are ugly! Everyone is beautiful in their own way!
“If you ain’t got nothing nice to say don’t say nothing at all” (yet again from Kasey Musgraves)
I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel. Just trying to make a difference, being a victim of bullying I know that it is one of the worst pains you can feel. Having people call you fat, and ugly. Eventually you start to believe them, it tears you down. No one should ever have to feel that pain! No one should ever feel unwanted! Because whether you know it or not you are loved!
Embrace your beauty! Show it off to the world! Never let anyone tell you differently!
