My Views On Politics

The moment everyone has been waiting on!

My Views On Politics
Thy Black Man

Alright, now that I am at the ripe age of 20 (almost 21), I am now ready to share my views on the Presidential Election!

So here it is: I don't have one. Not a single view.

That is absolutely right. At this beautiful age where I should care and want to vote, I just don't. Yes, that sounds weird and I should want to care ,and it's not like I don't care at all. I just don't care to vote is all.

Other people: Well then, we should not hear you complain about anything since you don't vote!

Uh...I was not complaining about anything, but this phrase gets thrown down my throat when politics are brought up at the breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My school even had a table where you could register to vote. They asked me if I wanted to register, and I simply said: No thank you.

I even get ridiculed for not watching the news. The news!

Here is my thought on that:

1. There is so much sadness on the news. I find no point in watching it.

2. Why watch the news when I can go on Facebook, scroll down for at least a minute, and know exactly what's going on.

Think about it: the second one person finds out something, everyone knows in a matter of minutes because people are posting like crazy!

Other people: So what are you? Democrat? Liberal?

How about neither, because that does not determine the person I am today or in the next 50 years.

I remember sitting next to someone when I was being told that I need to vote and that I cannot complain unless I picked someone to vote for. A lovely, older lady was sitting at the table as they were telling me I need to act and make a stand. She leans over to me says:

In the 60 plus years I have been on this Earth, I have never voted nor have I cared to vote. If you do not want to, then you are expressing your human rights to do as you please.

First off, to hear this from someone 60+ years old tell me this was a great laugh for me, because I had never heard anyone say this. Second, it helped me really stand firm on my belief that I will never really be able to chose a side because with almost everyone around me telling me I need to, it's nice to know an older lady has your back!

So a message to those who feel as though you need to chose a side on politics or this horrible presidential election: you have a three sides to chose: democratic, liberal, or neither.

I chose neither. I believe everyone has the right to love and be loved ,whether it's a boy and a girl, boy and boy, girl and girl, transgender, and so on and so forth. We have the right to stand up and say no to voting because no one is paying us to do it and no one is going to force me to do so.

I am following my own foot steps and no one can make me walk up to a voting booth.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
